A source inside the Auburn athletic department told my brother-in-law a month or so to watch Kirby Smart. If he doesn't accept any HC coaching positions this year, look for Saban to go to the NFL or retiring if he won another championship. Smart would succeed him. Most of the top jobs are filled. Hmmmmm

I'm not a huge fan of the Haslam family, but if they can make this happen I'll love them forever.

Then why did he get as serious with Auburn as he did?

Well, look at what he started with.

Just saying the "foundation" will last two years tops. After that it's on the new coach.

Right, but it also makes it easier to get a good coach to follow. That's all you can ask for really, in terms of coaching turnover. Everyone leaves eventually.

Les has lived off that foundation for years.

It's a double edged sword. The old saying goes that you don't want to be the guy who followed the guy, you want to be the one after.
Just look at Miles, even with his record and accomplishments there are still some fans who will never accept him because he's not Nick Saban.
Lord help whoever follows Miles

See? There will always be people who refuse to give you credit and will always ascribe your success to your predecessor. It's absurd but that's just how some idiots think.
I even heard some clown on Finebaum talking about the "Saban effect" being the reason Miles was winning at LSU 8 years after the fact

Press conference on Monday at 2pm. Once he does his usual rambling about the process and waiving his hands around in circles, once the question is asked about him leaving his response will be:
"I will NOT be the next coach at Miami"
Oh wait, thats not it.
"I will NOT be the next coach at Alabama"
shite thats not it either. Oh here we go:
"I will NOT be the next coach of the Cleveland Browns."
I dont even need to continue because we need to see how this one turns out

Well of course, but that goes without saying. It's better to have a great coach and have him leave the facilities and infrastructure sound. It's not a given that a successful coach will leave a program in good shape.

Muschamp has done a hell of a job this year. Only a matter of time before he wins his national title at UF.
