I mean I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Auburn and Ole Miss people are all about this. It's the only way they can compete

AU competed well under Dye and Tubbs running the power football game. It was like watching paint dry sometimes, but they won big with it.

Ignoring the very unoriginal flame, is that a bad thing? Usually parity is trumpeted as a good thing for sports.

the bottom line is that it's a cheap offense that's used almost exclusively by teams that can't compete any other way. They found a loophole. Well good for them I guess but it's time to close the loophole.

as asked above (also ignoring the typical flame attempt) so?

Using strategy to be more competitive than otherwise is cheap?

There is no loophole. It is called innovation and has been happening since the sport was invented.

The no huddle offense makes football more exciting to watch for the fans

only a select few enjoy defensive battles

I personally can appreciate both and think Saban is being a whiny bitch about this whole ordeal

it's football and it changes. It's always changed and will continue to

Is play action passing fair for traditionalists? What about counter runs? Pump fakes? Fake field goals? Fake punts?

Where are we drawing the line on this and why are we choosing to draw it there?

I agree with him 100%

I went to the UT-Baylor game this past season, it was a 70-63 final score. That's not football.

Yep. It's a perfectly legal scheme designed to give less talented teams a chance against bigger schools who can recruit NFL caliber front 7's. If you speed up the game and can throw quick passes and use misdirection runs, you can tire those big linemen and take them out of the game. It makes it a battle of QB and WR's v. CB's and safeties which is much easier to win than 11 on 11 against a better team.

I have no issue with it because I don't really see it as a threat to the traditional powers. When is the last time a team using this offense won a national title besides Auburn?

The best way to stop it is to use a traditional offense yourself and grind down the clock until the opposing defense is puking all over the field in the 4th quarter.

I am just amazed that all spring/summer he has complained about it (and had the bammer press backed him up),

He talked about one time that I recall. I never remember him mentioning it again until asked last week. Where does this all Spring/Summer shite come from? Like most coaches he doesn't really offer his opinion unless asked. It's not like he called a press conference to bitch about the HUNH.

Then yall should stop signing monster athletes that can run circles around some of our players. The talent discrepancy and size of these guys is unsafe.

Sounds like a player safety issue. Maybe the HUNH should be mandatory.

Yea, up until Tubs hired Tony Franklin, Auburn had been nationally known for producing some of the best OL and HB's. AU was about as power football as it gets until 2008.
