Sure - but the implication was that he was ranting and raving like a madman. Exploding generally means yelling and screaming. He may have called all their mothers whores, but he didn't do it very loudly or expressively.

Random, but somewhat on topic, Lou Holtz used to destroy reporters as well. I remember he destroyed some intern from South Carolina one time. I believe you can find it on YouTube.

I mean, not really. His point was pretty clear - there were 4 people in the car and only the 2 football players got arrested. In addition, basically the entire reason the charges were dropped was due to the illegal search. So, that's a real thing.
