What's to justify? He was already moving that direction.

B/c Chip Kelly taking orders from Ed O is not nearly the same thing as Chip Kelly taking orders from Nick Saban. THAT is why (well, one of the reasons) we called LSU fans delusional. No way was Kelly going to take orders from the DL coach he used to coach against when both were in the Pac.

bullshite. Bama runs tempo for certain situations during a game, just like all non-HUNH teams. They've never gone full HUNH styled offense for an entire game...which is exactly what Chip would bring.

Meh, LSU has no problems with those type of offenses.

Interesting

I haven't made any comment on this yet, but don't Bama fans think it seems crazy too? I mean, maybe it'll happen, who knows, but I don't see how anyone can look at it and go "oh for sure, that makes sense."

If Kelly needed to rehab a bit to get major job offers, then sure.

I don't think that's what he would bring.

I think, like Andy Staples wrote, it would be a way for Chip to show nfl teams he matured his offense to mesh what he likes with the ability to use time control when needed.

I dunno if that's realistic, but I think it's the only scenario in which this happens.

I think Andy Staples laid out the perfect reasoning for why this could happen.

I don't think it will happen, but his reasoning was pretty sound (as usual).

This statement right here is what would scare me more than anything about Chip, and why I didn't want DQ hiring him on the Falcons...one good year and having to search for a replacement again when he bolts.

Y'all remember that time when Bama didn't need "any of that Mickey Mouse horseshite"?

Yea, I'm still not sure what I think about all of it. Chip is a genius offensive coach, but at some point it feels like we need some stability over there.

You really think any Bama fans would give a shite about y'all crying about a Kelly hire..

Why not, y'all seem to give TREMENDOUS shits about which position coaches LSU hires.

Cool. You can really care about 4 year old talking points if Chip is hired. I promise Bama fans won't.

And Schefter said shortly after that was released that he'd already had conversations with Saban about it.

So, basically, nobody knows anything

Most Bama fans don't want chip, 1 and done is the reason for me.

Kiffin hire gives me all the confidence in the world that Saban will make the best hire for Alabama.

All these rumors are going to circulate when it pertains to Bama, par for the course.

Saban preaches he doesn't want clutter, and that's what he'll get with Chip, guaranteed

Who said anything about bitching and moaning? But after all the shite tossed on here by Saban and the bama fanbase about tempo and player safety, you can bet your arse there will be posters laughing their arse off watching bama fans try to justify it if he goes the same route.

A few yrs ago Saban asked the whole college football world if the fast pace/up tempo scheme was what folks wanted college football to become? Nothing about the game was changed, so the answer was YES - that's what folks in college football wanted the sport to become. So, Saban implemented the schemes, tendencies, and recruited personnel both run that offense when needed and he brought in players that were better suited to defend it as well.

I'm not sure if rival fans have just given up watching Bama games on Saturday's in the Fall....But Bama has been running a lot of HUNH, fast-paced offense with spread concepts for at least a couple of years now.

IMHO, Chip Kelly would never come coach at UA, period. But he would be an excellent source of knowledge about who would/should be a candidate to replace Sark.

where is the quote from Kelly? What exactly did he say?

I'm not saying he's the guy, but it certainly could happen. (I'd personally prefer Tee Martin b/c of stability and recruiting, but would be happy with Kelly just to laugh at some of you who said it wasn't happening based on nothing more than your desire for it to not happen).

As an LSU fan I would not mind it if Chip went to Bama, I would love our matchup with Aranda. No matter what he is allowed to do it will be at warp speed which gives us a chance if we can somehow get Bama's defense a little gassed, that offense plays right to our strengths under Aranda. I was always impressed with Bama's use of the short passing game early against us and then taking a few shots when we creep up along with the run heavy second half when we were tired from our offensive incompetence.
