He blames coaching for most of our QB woes at the end of the season.

quote:

“Sometimes later in the year when people played us in a way that we needed to be able to throw the ball, we may not have been as efficient as we’d have liked to have been,” Saban said. “That was probably our fault as coaches, because we protected him, instead of developed him as a young player.

quote:

“The goal this spring and certainly before next season is that we can create more balance by being a better passing team to go along with what we’re able to do with our feet as a quarterback — as well as how that creates balance for our overall offense and utilizes some of the other skill players that we have, which we didn’t always take advantage of last year.”

Good thing Bama signed Chip Kelly as their new OC this offseason.

Saban and Kiffin are just gonna keep throwing passive aggressive shots at each other. I love it

You were right. I thought Bama should have went full read option/power run/play action at the end of the season to bring home the championship and attempted to develop him this seasson. Oh well

I actually thought kiffin did a good job of hiding Jalen's deficiencies.

Kiffin was a good OC for Hurts. Hurts is what he is and, specifically, he is extremely effective with his feet. He won't be like a Manziel spreading the ball around the field though or throwing dimes. Bama fans need to live with that.

Especially when the defense is being held from reaching him.

Hilarious coming from a guy with Tom Herman as his avatar.

Yeah, if only he could develop a QB like Gus. The wonders that man worked with Jeremy Johnson boggle the mind.

This is what happens when you throw a true freshman into a collegiate atmosphere. The kid is a great athlete, but without all of the 5* talent around him he's just another dual threat qb that can't pass. The kid doesn't make good reads and his accuracy isn't the greatest. I think it's funny all of the people pumping this nonsense that he's exponentially better in a few months.

He did a fantastic job of it, actually. He just didn't take his opportunities to force Hurts to try to become a better passer.

10 points is all he needed against LSU last year sadly because he had an amazing defense. McCarron in 2011 had that same benefit

One point was all he needed. Ten points was what he got.
