As a result, Rivals.com and Scout.com, the nation's main recruiting agencies, listed him as one of the 20 best quarterback prospects in the nation, and Rivals.com selected him a "top 10 pro-style" quarterback.
"I lean toward both ways," Jefferson said in assessing his own game.
He did not mean, he said, that he is equally comfortable in both offenses (he prefers the traditional attack). But he is committed to making the play the situation requires.
"I'll use my athletic ability to run the ball when I have to, but my philosophy is throw it first and run second," he said. "I would like to get the yards by passing. I want to throw the ball, but I will make whatever play we think can beat you. That's basically how I play football."
But don't worry, he's lying. And those silly rivals and scouts who critique hundreds of players have nothing on you.

Watch the film and look at the stats. Pass first and pocket passer are two different things. He isn't comfortable in the pocket yet. Maybe he will be this year. Have a great day! Good luck on your season.

if lee would have played in the chick fil a bowl, he'd have been sacked about 9 times, and/or thrown 3 or 4 picks.
georgia tech blitzed the shite out of jefferson, and he made them pay for it.
but keep thinking that all he can do is run.
can't wait till he throws all over bama in november...

Why would you even argue about something you obviously have no knowledge on? Oh... because you're an idiot. Its overly obvious to those that do know what they are talking about that JJ is a drop back pocket QB. Early season reps by him involved running due to his skill set compared to others and his lack of knowledge of the playbook. It was hoped that he would get to redshirt, but good ole RP messed that idea up, and very late in the season JJ had to increase his learning curve. The playbook allows for freedom to run when needed, which J.Russell often did as well even though we all know that wasn't his strong suit and in no way makes him anything other than what he is, a pocket QB

intelligent bama fans need to have a sit down talk with this guy.

I don't see why y'all are making such a hissy fit over this.
In 2.5 games, Jefferson has been shown to run the ball considerably often. That may very well change this season, but the fact remains that during his time last year, he was a running QB.

It always happens if he doesn't go to bama, he can't play.

Sleeper of the freshman class. Will make an impact this year. Was bumped to varsity practice this morning...

Rueben Randle is the real deal

M. Clairborne
He was a 3* ATH but was WAY underrated... He has been working with the varsity at WR and CB. He is about 6'1" and has legit 4.4 speed.
Don't know what's true or not with this story but I can tell you that if Ruben was worried about another WR in this class, it should have been Clairborne. Todays practice reports came in and everyone is saying Clairborne is the best WR in the freshman class. Everyone is saying Ruben looks great but Clairborne is better. His highschool coach said all along that he was the best WR in the state and he was underrated because he came from a small school that didn't produce much film on their players. All I can say is Miles didn't hesitate to offer the kid once they put eyes on him at his first LSU camp. Just goes to show you can't always go by the Rivals star system.

you have this story so mixed up it's funny

I wasnt implying that Jefferson isn't going to be a solid QB or that he's a run-first guy. He is balanced, but I just dont see a QB with limited experience getting the ball to the #3 true freshman reciever too often this year.
Peyton Manning could.
I wouldn't call him a great PURE pocket passer right now and I think that's what Randle would need to get the ball and produce stats like a freshman JJ or AJ.

Then how did it really go down?

40% is still very high. The broken down plays, scrambles, and designed runs would probably not happen with a true pocket guy.
Joe Flacco ran the ball 11% of the time as a senior.
Mark Sanchez was under 13% last year.
JPW was a little over 18%.
Kodi Burns was at 35%.
Vince young was a little over 32% in his last year.
40% is very high and would not be considered a pocket guy by many people.
You are arguing why he wasn't a pocket QB last year. I don't think anyone would disagree with that. He was a running QB last year. But, that is not what is being discussed.
The fact is that you are showing your ignorance of Jefferson's style and pedigree if you are basing his style totally off of last year.
Last year was a year the coaching staff didn't start giving him any kind of significant reps until 50% into the year (right before the Bama game). He was very limited in what plays he could run...so they relied on rolling him out, having a large number of designed runs, etc.
That he was able to be affective with such little preparation was very impressive to me. I think you are going to be surprised to see what he can really do.

Brandon LaFell and Terrance Toliver being the #1 and #2 WR's is going to really open up his looks, imo
or he might open looks for them

So up to this point,in college, he hasn't been a pocket QB?...
