As the Valley Shook has a detailed analysis on this very topic.

They posted it... *yesterday*.

But I know what you're thinking... it's not really the SEC that's out to get us, it's Tom Ritter. Is there any truth to accusation that Ritter is a flag-happy jerk who is out to get LSU? Well, I can speak to his personality or his motives, but we can look at his performance. And, buy, does he like to flag LSU. Let's look at all of the SEC referees together, and see who stands out.

LINK

quote:
The average SEC ref flags LSU 6.86 times for 56.63 yards, and has a penalty margin of 1.77-15.51. That's, as we've established above, the worst in the SEC. Ritter seemed to take that as a challenge and he flags LSU an average of 10.14 times for 81.86 yards at a ridiculous margin of 5.29-38.00.

If you remove Ritter from LSU's averages, LSU gets flagged 6.06 times per game for 49.86 yards at a margin of 1.00 times for 10.89. Still a bad ratio, but it lops off nearly five yards of penalty yard margin from LSU's average. Nearly a third of LSU's penalty margin comes from the games Ritter officiates.

that's really bad, and all I really needed to know on this topic, since I dont take any of the idiots on this forum seriously. Facts win out. Les Miles should really start an investigation on Ritter.

The look of heartbreak in Ritter's eyes when he got the news that past the line of scrimmage TD would count and Bama was about to lose to Ole Miss again was just about perfect.

I thought I saw a tear for just a second.

Poor Bama ref.

More from the ATVS post:

quote:

However, the performance of non-SEC refs to SEC refs working LSU games points to the fact that there is no conspiracy. If there was a league-wide mandate to screw over LSU, there is no earthly way that refs from other conferences are in on it. Unless you want to argue that this is all coming from Mark Emmert's office. If there is bias against LSU, it is clearly unconscious and unintentional.

Well, except maybe for Ritter. His numbers really are out there. So, let's look at his game-by-game performance to catch him in the dastardly act. Because, as we know, he's in Bama's back pocket.

That last comment about being in Bama's back pocket is sarcasm for those lacking a sarcasm meter.

They go on to show how Ritter has been the opposite of LSU's enemy when we play Bama:

quote:

Hmm. Now that is unexpected. Ritter hammers LSU in every game EXCEPT the Alabama game. Even more interesting, the penalty margin isn't helping all that much. LSU is 6-1 in games Ritter officiated since 2012, and the one game the Tigers lost, they held the edge in penalties. So maybe his Bama bias shows up in the games he works with the Tide:

quote:

Wow, he doesn't like the Tide either. In fact, looking at the LSU and Bama game logs with Ritter, it seems we can identify the true villain behind the potential SEC officiating conspiracy... Texas A&M. The Aggies have only been in the league three years, and they've drawn Ritter four times against LSU or Bama, and every time they have gotten an extremely friendly whistle.

I like it.

Tom Ritter is actually an Aggy fan.

I expect all Aggy posters to change their avatars to Tom Ritter's photo.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe LSU is just committing all of its penalties while Ritter's watching?

So, obviously the ref who flags them the least has a bias for LSU.

Wait, this is SEC rant? Why that fcuk did you post this here??? Ugh. Embarrassing.

Yes Ritter screws LSU on important plays, over and over, for decades. But you don't talk about with other SEC fans.

Shouldn't y'all be working on your T rex imitation or getting your cheerleader outfits ready for your epic clash with E. Michigan? How many awful teams do y'all get to play this year anyway? Who makes the schedules for the SEC?

Feels good man. Good luck with Georgia and the rest of your brutal schedule.

I'd like to see how much Ritter flags other SEC schools vs their average as well. It may be that he's just flag happy in general

By the way, for those trying to draw conclusions from the ATVS piece:

The headline is:
The Great SEC Officiating Conspiracy

The very next sentence is:
SPOILER ALERT: There isn't one

Read the whole piece before jumping to conclusions.

I know.. unpossible for the Rant.

What kind of conspiracy would that be if he's consistently an a-hole?

I think we need a Benghazi style investigation.

If Bobby Jindal wants to win my vote, he needs to investigate Tom Ritter ASAP.

Purple and gold lives matter.
