He has some questionable fashion choices, but let's be honest. He's the starting QB at UGA, he can wear whatever he wants and still have the poon thrown at him from every angle.

Only an LSU fan would take that to mean "He would absolutely, beyond a shadow of a doubt, with full certainty be starting."

You are either overly sensitive or painfully stupid, as no one even implied anything similar to that

Does the option of using hyperbole not exist? Because I think that'd be the appropriate answer.

Just read the thread. Multiple LSU fans are pretty sold on the fact that Mett would be starting.

How in the world would you know this?

This was the sentiment of everyone close to the program I heard from back then. Mett was ahead talent wise, Murray had the edge because of Mett's off-field issues. If you threw out Mett's attitude/off-field issues they all said Mett was the clear cut guy there.

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen on here. What exactly are your credentials on the matter to say this? Are you ON the coaching staff, is that how you know exactly why a QB in contention to start was "held back"?

This is what everyone close to UGA back then was telling me. If you want to have a revisionist history then so be it. EVERYONE back then at that spring game (BEFORE the game even started) said the exact same thing "Mett may have some issues off the field but his talent is bigger than Murray's". Mett's reputation was never great at UGA, a aplenty people made note of that...he needed to a lot of growing up...but his on-field talent was never in question.

Thank you. Thank you for proving my point exactly. People (you included) only saw mettenberger with your own eyes ONE TIME, and it was in a fricking practice that just so happened to get televised. How do you know it wasn't just an off day for Murray and a great day for Mett?

FALSE, I had seen Mett way more than that once prior to that. I have so many damn UGA homer friends (several well within the program) I get updates on everyone all the time. They were all saying Mett > Murrary through the ENTIRE spring but that Mett would never get the job with his "issues" needing to "Clean up his act".

Once again, have a revisionist history as you will. But tho is what EVERY single UGA fan/homer/guy close to that program was telling me.

how pissed are the UGA fans going to be if Mett ends up with better stats than Murray?

not likely to happen due to LSUs offensive style but still....would be nice.

he would have beaten out Murray contrary to what any UGA fans wanna claim.

False. And not because Mett isn't better, but because Richt is a loyalty guy. It's his achilles heel.

Mett wasnt at the point mentally to start for us. Murray was. That's about it.

My opinion based on the QB battle is that the leader seemingly changed every week. Neither at the time was a sure bet to win

My popcorn at the beginning was that richt went awkwardly beyond what would suffice as polite praise

Mettenberger was ahead of Murray when they were fighting for the job together. He was just held back because of his off-field issues. I remember that spring game when Mettenberger just showed out (I was there), and spring practices that year had Mett a favorite over Murray.

That's half right. Mett looked much better in the spring game. Coaches said Murray looked better most of the Spring practices and would probably start fall as number one but the position was not settled.

All that before Mett got in a little trouble. Wish him well. But it is just not right to say he would have been UGA's starter. That would have been settled in the fall.

And yet the guy couldn't beat out JJ for the starting job last year.

Something doesn't add up about that. Either Mett isn't as good as ppl want to believe (eh, not sure) or Miles is an idiot (I'm going with this).

Either you haven't lived the life of most young people bar hopping or you're full of bull. Mett's biggest sin was grabbing the wrong woman (one who had connections). But press on man.
