A lot of backward UGA fans liked mett more than Murray for the sole reason that mett was from Athens and Murray was a guido from florida

If that's their reason then they're stupid. When Mett arrived on campus, he was a pompous a-hole that was skinny, had no footwork, and awful decision making. He was at the elite 11 camp with Murray and was telling everyone in Oconee when he got back that he's really the better player and should've won.

He's come a long way football wise since then, but for people to have liked him more simply because he's local is ridiculous.

Oh, you mean the one televised practice that people got to watch on TV?

not sure how much they saw of Mett and Murray, but I've seen mutliple UGA fans post that Mett was more impressive.

quote:

I've said repeatedly and will say again, I attended several practices with both of them there, and have 2 friends that work with the team, and everyone who knows anything substantial about it says he wouldn't beat out Murray.

they prolly said that after Mett got booted. It's only natural. I remember LSU fans thinking LSU was gonna be ok with Lee and JJ after RP got the boot.

But I guess the GDay game 3 years ago is more than enough evidence to prove otherwise right?

Wern't the practies your buddies saw from 3 years ago too? What does that have to do with it?

Mett= gamer

Mettenberger was ahead of Murray when they were fighting for the job together. He was just held back because of his off-field issues. I remember that spring game when Mettenberger just showed out (I was there), and spring practices that year had Mett a favorite over Murray.

And they probably aren't basing that on anything more than that same GDay game and his JUCO stats.

I'll go in with you on this one, I guess that's human nature to think "what could've been".

It has to do with the fact that when BOTH players were on campus and competing against each other, Murray was better. So it's asinine for anyone to say Mett would be starting over Murray when the actual hard and fast results showed otherwise.

You are basing your opinion off of sources that seriously and breathlessly reported that Logan Gray had a stranglehold on the job. We don't know how it would ultimately have shaken out, but we do know that Mett had the best G-Day was being praised for closing the gap on the starter's gig, and then Murray closed the gap on Logan Gray to win the job after Mett and the team parted ways.

And here is the reason LSU fans are so optomistic about this season. After suffering through the last 4 years of QB hell, LSU fans realize that if Mettenberger can even be average to slighly better than decent this season, we will have the opportunity to do some special things considering the talent he has around him.

Richt's comments, however "nice" he is actually being, seem to say that he thinks he is at least an average QB no? That's the point is we don't need him to be better than Murray or be a leading QB stat's wise in the SEC. All we need is him to be a game manager and we can achieve all the goals we set out for this season.

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen on here. What exactly are your credentials on the matter to say this? Are you ON the coaching staff, is that how you know exactly why a QB in contention to start was "held back"?

I remember that spring game when Mettenberger just showed out (I was there)

Thank you. Thank you for proving my point exactly. People (you included) only saw mettenberger with your own eyes ONE TIME, and it was in a fricking practice that just so happened to get televised. How do you know it wasn't just an off day for Murray and a great day for Mett?

And no, spring practices that year did not have Mett the favorite. And once again I'll say, I know this because not only did I watch them in practice, but I have 2 friends who WORK FOR THE TEAM who saw them everyday and they also disagree with you.

But by all means, continue to let a few passes in an April practice be the true answer.

DAFUQ?

No one I know has ever said Logan Gray was going to start so you need to recheck your facts.

I swear, if yall had seen our GDay games in the mid200s yall would think Ronnie Powell was the next Herschel Walker.

You do realize the spring game is 1 out of 15 practices during the spring right? How many of the other practices did you get to watch that year?

We never said he sucked. LSU fans just claimed that he would for-sure start over Murray, which is not the case.
