My ratings:
1a. Paul Maineri
1b. John Cohen
2. Tim Corbin
3. Dave Van Horn
4. Mike Bianco
5. Sullivan
6. Holbrook
So Holbrook, in his inaugural season, inherits a team with a pitching staff that got hit hard by the draft, lost a stud 1B and had to reshuffle the infield, yet takes his team to within 1 run of going to Omaha again in 2 separate games at the #1 national seed in the Supers....
and he's the 7th best coach in the SEC?

That doesn't change the fact that he's a average coach with a subpar resume.
There's nothing average about Supers, SEC tourney title, hosting, and Omaha compared to where we were most of the 2000s. Just face it, order is restored. LSU and State then all the rest.

1. Cohen
2a and 2b- Maineri and Bianco.
I list the 2 MS coaches for 1 reason only. They don't have lottery schollies to give out and they keep those schools competing. Maineri is great but he has an advantage over state and OM.
I liken them to Jim Wells who may have been the best coach in the conference during his time. He was playing with mainly Birmingham/Tuscaloosa area kids so they could live at home because of the schollie situation and still won multiple SEC championships and made the CWS 3 times. He is the most underrated coach this side of Rich Brooks the SEC ever saw. When he came to Bama they had won 9 conference games the year before.
Corbin, meh, Vandy has always competed in baseball and basketball. Doesn't take the funds to be competitive in those sports. Sets up well for Vandy. Good coach, wouldn't win at some schools.
UF may be the most underachieving program in baseball. All the resources, weather, players to pick from and can't win much. Should win the SEC every other year and finish 2nd the other times.

IIRC, it was like coonass vs. the world back on sixpack during those years. Most wanted to keep Stans and lamented not hiring Raffo.

Resources? I guess we are the only school with money?
Weather? So different in Gainesville than the rest of the SEC?
Players? Only we have players to pick from?
Can't win much? 3 of the last 4 CWS?
Congrat's on being completely wrong.

quote:To put things in perspective, in the history of the program, Vanderbilt baseball had been to three NCAA tournaments prior to Corbin's arrival. You've also got the most attractive scholarship situation in the country for baseball. We don't even have lottery scholarships. While you are using 27+ full rides, MSU gives out 11.7 Once you decided you cared about winning at baseball and went out and hired a winner, that's all you will ever be now.
The ole "Vandy has more scholarships than everybody else" and the "we don't have a scholarship lottery" arguments.
We have 11.7 scholarships just like you do. However, we also have need-based and academic grants that help families foot the remainder of a $60,000 tuition bill where the scholarship falls short.

Give me a fricking break with the excuses of why you lost damn near every series you played during the regular season.
Now that isn't even remotely true.

So Cohen "does more with less". Did he win the SEC West? No. Did he win the SEC? No. Did he do either last yr? No. Did he win a Super regional before this yr? No. Did he win a regional last yr? Not sure but presume no. What he has done is win 2 games in Omaha, admittedly putting the dawg's in the cat's bird seat. But there are a ton of teams who won 2 games in Omaha. Let him bring home the NC trophy & then you can beat your chest all you want. Personally, I think Vandy's coach is hands down the best coach when you consider what he has to deal with when it comes to finances & administrative support: Vandy does not even have an Athletic Department or A.D.

First, I'm not stalking shite. It's just the past 2 days I've seen you do nothing but shite on the baseball threads. And it probably takes up most of the board right now because idk, the CWS is going on, retard.
