Bama / Auburn is up there with Michigan / Ohio State as the top 2 rivalries in the country.

Michigan is irrelevant and hasn't been a true major program in the national conversation in a long time.

Alabama and Auburn have had undefeated seasons recently, SEC Championships, and national championships. When was Michigan's last Big 10 title, national championship (on the field), or perfect record?

It's not a rivalry.

Seriously.

Before I came on the rant, LSU was the team I hoped represented the conference if Alabama couldn't.

Only issue I have with LSU are the fans who attack recruits.

I love Les Miles, he's a cool cat.

higher than that. we were around 14th or 15th before Saban got to LSU. We're around 10th or 11th currently

It's a big game and I'd give it a 7.5 on the rivalry scale.

In recent years the game has been a big one b/c both programs have done well and obviously b/c of the Saban connection. The game has history, but it has historically not been a game that the teams and fans circle. The lopsided nature of the history also makes it less of a rivalry (Bama has won almost twice as many games).

LSU fans probably view it around a 9 these days b/c of Saban, but for Bama fans is is around a 7. They have Auburn and Tenn which are more important. Historically it was even lower for both sides.

The whole premise here is wrong. The word "rivalry" suggest a meaning altogether different from just playing a game against a good opponent - one must look at it from a historical context.

Recent LSU/Bama is sorta like the Florida/Bama games of the 90s - awesome games, with two powerhouse programs going at it - but it was not a rivalry, just games that meant a lot in the SEC and nationally.

I understand some of the hate that LSU has for Alabama - and much of it revolves around Saban. HOWEVER, I truly do not know a single Bama soul, outside of this board, who loathes LSU. I enjoy picking on the fans here but they have always been my 2nd favorite team, and I love Miles as a coach.

I don't think they have a reason to hate LSU. There is no history for that.

Fear? Yes, because LSU has consistently been their greatest threat to success in the past ten years.

I don't really see the arky game as much of a rivalry(which is sadly mostly due to having to play at jerry world), but I wanna beat the hell out of lsu almost as bad as I wanna beat tu. They are second on my list of hate. I believe USCe will be there soon. damn chickens

That's because we don't sexually assault people when we win, and will actually admit when we have been beaten. Every Gump I have ever met has an excuse for why they lost other than the other team beat them that day.

LSU needs to win this weekend for any hopes of a rivalry continuing. Can't be losing 4 in a row for a rivalry to exist.

So Tennessee is no longer a rivalry for Bama? This year was the first time in 5 years they came within 30 points of Bama.

This is the 4th year in a row that the LSU/Bama game has been given the primetime slot on CBS. The game is still a big deal. Bama did end up winning by 21 last year, but it was tied late in the 3rd quarter. It took a fake punt by Saban for the tide to change. Then they won comfortably and Saban jumped into AJ's arms like a school girl in love, so it's obviously a big game for some people.

It was just another fun game, but not that high on the list before Saban entered the picture. Only when Saban went to Bama did it go through the roof in terms of excitement/rivalrywannabeness.

A 5 at most for UA.
For LSU? Crank it up to 11.

It's not a rivalry to me at all - just a really good game.

A true rivalry with another team starts when you are a kid and you are raised love and respect God & your Momma and hate UT & Auburn.

LSU never entered the conversation around my household growing up.

I might give it a 7 or 8 but this post is accurate in that AU and UT are by far more important to the Bama fan base.

I love how these guys build up their secrant rep by acting like they don't care. Really, it's working.

CBS picks this game has picked this game as their night game the last 3 years. When you think of the SEC West, these are the first two teams that come to mind nationally. Traditionally its not Alabama vs Tennessee, but for the last decade it's the game everyone wants to see.

Considering how non-important this rivalry is to Bama, and how important TSIO is to them, you would think they would rearrange their bye week accordingly.

3-game win streak against LSU and an 8-game win streak against Tennessee? I think we're doing just fine how it is.

Who said we don't care about the game? It's a tough game against a respected foe.

You're just not our rivals.

The minute Alabama starts to suck or LSU starts to suck, do you think CBS gives a damn about this game? Do you think any Alabama fan does beside it being another game?

It's a game against great competition, nothing more and nothing less.

Not really! Alabama is 4-8 against Auburn over the last 12 years. Auburn also has more conference championships than any SEC team over the last 10 years
