Would be a bigger deal if LSU had beaten Bama in Tiger Stadium in 2012. Bama fans are riding a 3 game win streak over LSU where Bama completely dominated in 2 of those wins.

LSU needs to win this weekend for any hopes of a rivalry continuing. Can't be losing 4 in a row for a rivalry to exist.

Yea I remember that. Some LSU/Louisiana folks also came up to the LSU-Alabama baseball series that spring and cooked for a bunch of relief workers and victims. It was really cool.

Let's be honest about Saban. Alabama was envious of LSU having Saban and becoming relevant during his tenure at LSU. The success Bama has enjoyed is because you hired our old coach. Yes that stings LSU fans. Why wouldn't it but you guys would still be irrelevant if you didn't throw everything you had at him.

Face it, it hurt watching LSU during those years Saban was with us. The only way to reach our level was to hire Saban. You wanted our success and our coach. With that being said, it's a rivalry and Miles has faired well head to head. The West goes through LSU and Bama since both Miles and Saban took over.

Here is the basic thing I see in regards to this game:

Lsu fans are lying when they say it is a true rivalry. Like I said, we didnt notice it or do anything special ourselves until 2007

Bama fans are lying when they act like it isnt a little special to them. The last 10 years when yall check the schedule, you get more hyped for LSU week and the game then UT. Sure, you may not "hate us like a rival", but the game week and excitement is more then the vols right now

I don't understand why you think it hurt us to watch LSU win the SEC anymore than anybody else while we sucked? I was distinctly remember cheering for LSU in 2003 against UGA so they could get into the national title game.

Oops, there's you mistake here.

Do they expect us to play Ole Miss, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, random cupcake, and LSU without having a bye week?

I dont think it has much to do at all with us being jealous of LSU during the early 2000's.... we needed a coach and Saban was the best one available so we did what we had to do to get him. Simple as that. I actually enjoy LSU fans a lot and think that y'all have the most similar fanbase to ours in the SEC.

It's certainly a different kind of excitement. One is excitement over beating the hell out of a rival and one is excitement over a huge game that typically has national title implications. Again, I can't speak for everybody, but I've never said it wasn't a "special" game these past few years. But, again, special doesn't make a rivalry. It makes a hugely important game in the national picture.

Your post was not a flame, so it won't get much reaction. I agree with you.

Several good posts in this thread (and the recruiting thread) totally drowned in a sea of shite. I hate this week.

1) Florida/Bama (depends on the year)

Florida is not LSU's number 1. Even when we were both competing for title's every year, they were not LSU's number 1 rival. It is a consistently good game but is not the hatefest of Bama, Ole Miss, or Auburn. Even when Ole Miss was out and out terrible, I still hated them. It was hard rooting for them to win this weekend against Auburn and when they lost in the most heartbreaking way possible....I felt good. Go to Hell ole miss!

I've been to every TSIO game since 2007. I wouldn't do that if it wasn't the my favorite game of the season.

Oh my post wasnt meant to say that is how every Bama fan feels. I do think UT is yalls rival more then LSU. I just think overall the excitement has been more for LSU then UT the last 10 years

Truth is, due to things like geographic considerations and the fact that there is no other top tier D-I school in the state, LSU really does not have an "arch-rival". Many many years ago that was Tulane before they fell into the abyss.

Right now I'd say LSU has rivalries (but not arch-rivalries) with several of the SEC schools. I'd put the list in the following order based on historical traditions, the number of memorable moments and the general feeling between the fan bases (and each of these schools has an arch rivalry with another school, usually with a team from the same state as them):

Auburn - I just love all the great games that have inspired nicknames.

Ole Miss - Just pure history. Billy Cannon's Run. Archie Who. Eli falling down, "Go To Hell" chants, etc.

TAMU = Aggie jokes, John David Crowe, shared recruiting grounds. A great series with some unfortunate long spells of not playing. I can remember long ago when the two teams would play at the beginning of the year and it had a big impact on what kind of year the winner and loser would have the rest of the year.

BAMA - Some good games but not really one of the very top rivals. Overall series has been too one sided. Cholly Mac gave the Bear some good games but was always the student and couldn't get the better of the teacher. Miles went toe to toe with Saban but the last few games have gone in Bama's favor. Maybe the remaining careers of this two and their successors will elevate the rivalry in the future.

ARKANSAS - This one never really got of the ground. It would seem like a natural rivalry and neither team seems to have an arch-rival. Plus, the powers that be clearly tried to make it a rivalry game. But aside from a few things like MacFadden "bringing the wood" and Miles' "R-Kansas" quotes it has been kind of a non starter. I think maybe the day after Thanksgiving/Day after Thanksgiving games hurt it.

ETA: Almost forgot:

FLORIDA - Some good games (going for it like 4-5 times on 4th down). SEC tries to make it a strong rivalry with the permanent opponents thin but it's just usually a good game. I'd but them Somewhere around Bama as a rival.

With how the SEC gives us our schedule...

Bruh, no.

From 2008 until 2015, six of the eight meetings Bama scheduled a bye before LSU. You can admit, you want the extra week of practice to get ready. We are cool with that. Not about rivalry, but about respect.

We aren't rivals. A&M, like arky and vandy, is without rivals
