You belong on the OT where somewhere in the neighborhood of $600,000 and another $700,000 incentives is small.

The 26th rated program found that to be overpaying for what you get.

So what your saying is spots #27 through #1 are destination jobs.

Understandable

They shouldn't have been in the MNC this year but Kelly is definitely upgrading their talent level over what it has been for the last decade.

i agree with ND being grossly outmatched in the MNC game, but who else should they have put in there? Florida proved they werent's up for it with their sugar bowl flop and georgia played their way out in the SEC title game. aTm was prolly the most legitimate contender at the end of the season but an early loss to UF killed their chance. As much as I hate ND bc of all the undeserved attention they get for beating the likes of Pitt at home in OT, that job is very highly regarded still.

A) Mississippi State football attendance is more than Kentucky it doesn't matter if their stadium holds 100,000.

B) If your head wasn't up your arse you would know that we are currently adding on to our stadium.

C) Kentucky football is still irrelevant. I mean when was the last time they even broke the top 25.

I can see it. If Freeze suceeds at Ole Miss, Mississippi State is at risk of going back to being a dumpster fire. In such a small state, there's really only room for one football powerhouse, even in the SEC. Ole Miss is better positioned to do that, given its history.

Whereas if the Kentucky football program got its head out of its butt, it could probably handle Louisville easily.

To be clear, "I" didn't say that. Athlon did.

Isn't the series record like 20-20-1?

Tradition? Houndstooth and numbers on the helmets is all I can come up with.

AU is a top shelf program that pays good, has great facilities and plenty of money, why can't Jacobs get a seasoned/proven winner to coach the football team?

Answer: They would have to coach against and recruit against Bama every year and let's face it, IDK who that would appeal to. Bama is a Titan compared to AU right now and it's kind of an uphill battle for auburn.

28. Arkansas

Pros: Recently renovated Reynolds Razorback Stadium — with its 76,000 seats and 30x107-foot LED video screen — is one of the most underrated venues in the nation. Arkansas is the only BCS program in the state, giving the school an advantage in recruiting homegrown talent.

Cons: The Hogs have found it tough to win consistently since bolting the Southwest Conference for the SEC in the early 1990s. Arkansas is 85-89-2 in the SEC and has only once had back-to-back winning seasons in the league.

Final Verdict: Arkansas is quite similar to several of the non-elite coaching positions in the SEC. It’s a good job, but it’s not a destination job for a coach with national title aspirations.

This has to be a typo, THEY HAVE THE BEST ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT IN THE NCAA?

That might hurt if it wasn't a Volololol fan posting the flame. Tough to take anything about your athletic department serious at the moment.

When other coaches are making money grab moves doubling salary, getting 7 figure bumps just at the mention of Arkansas by their agents, a $600K increase is tiny in comparison.

You won't understand it, but Bielema is the perfect coach for us. Not a greedy guy, gives up a little so those around him can be taken care of a little better, has a team/org first outlook that drives the success factors.

The parameters others judge their own world and life by isn't applicable here, things are different in Arkansas. $3.2M salary in Fayetteville means you can buy a house for $1.5M that would cost $8M-$12M in Miami, Bay Area, Chicago, LA, etc.

Money goes further here, groceries cost less, utilities cost much less, gas is usually pretty cheap, cars and trucks sell for much less, taxes are less, and people are super nice to boot.

I'm confused about the whole Arky is or is not a destination job. Am I to believe...

A) An objective probably award winning news source and respected sports company

or

B) Arky fans here

Do you non-Arkies have any guidance you can provide on the matter?

28 to 18 isn't an insurmountable obstacle. Arkansas could definitely get there in this decade if it catches some breaks.

Completely agree. We've been right on the cusp but can't get over it. In probably our three biggest moments that could have put us over the hump we haven't caught the breaks. Stoerner fumbles against Tennessee in '98 to ruin our undefeated season, Fish fumbles the punt return aginst Florida in the SECCG and Julian Horton fails to scoop and score an easy TD in the Sugar Bowl. You have to get those if you want to play with the big boys.
