How is this relevant to a ranking of the jobs as they sit today? You have to think of your criticisms in terms of how the teams rank today. For instance, pointing out that Arkansas sucks because they got Bear'd out of a national title in 1964 is irrelevant (though hilarious) to this exercise.

You do not understand the list.

But LSU isn't a top three job. It is definitely top ten but it's crazy to say it's top three. Same goes with UGA and Ohio State. Although UGA could become a top three job if they reach their potential, they have the best recruiting base out of the three.

This isn't an argument I would make if I were a State fan.

Not really. Bigger yes, nicer not really. Everyone in the SEC for the most part has top of the line facilities.

Cheshire, you know I consider you a demigod, but you're wrong.

While Arkansas might be able to dream of something nicer than the new Kyle (which in itself is a dubious task), it won't be dropping $450M on a facility anytime soon.

Kyle will be the new standard. I can see it being passed when Texas expands to 120k.

I didn't say that, but you are wrong that it is crazy to say that. Several publications have placed LSU in the top three over the years. Since this list is mostly about perception, it would be difficult to argue that it defies reason to put LSU there when many people do, in fact, regard the job that highly. I think top 10 is just fine in any event.

You can build Jerry World, it still gets dinged for being in Starkville. If you build the equivalent of Commonwealth Stadium in Starkville, it is still more desirable to have the one that sits in Lexington.

Okay. Lexington is more desirable than Starkville in your opinion? The question wasn't which town would you rather coach in? I don't think Merlins has been hitting up the bars in Starkville.

Our football program is better than UK's. Our fans are better than UK's. Our football atmosphere is better than UK's. We recruit better than UK. Anything else?

Fair enough. I just don't like how static that list always is. If it's been a while for your program, you don't belong in the top 10, and I agree that A&M does not belong in the top 10 right now. Arkansas is way too low IMO by the way. The only thing hurting Ark is the local talent compared to other states. Otherwise, Ark has a damn good fan and financial support with a solid, recognizable brand.

Apparently we think alike as I posted virtually the exact same thing right after you.

I definitely think A&M has the potential to be a Top 10 job but you've got to get over the modern day NC hump that all the schools in the Top 10 have. That's what separates their status imo.

As for Arkansas, if I was making the list then I would slot us around 20-22 personally.

Did you really argue that only three teams matter and then offer a fourth? Come on, guy!

I just don't see it with Ohio State, they are good no doubt but not top three IMO. Not a good enough recruiting base and have to do good out of state. Which they do but IMO still not top three.

I reject this outright. Ohio is RIDICULOUS with talent.

4 national titles, 32 conference titles, 2 heismans...should I go on?

Even still, Money keeps ut at the top more than tradition, as does a fan base willing to live with mediocrity from their head coach.

You mean a place that deals well with mediocrity, that pays more than everyone, and that does the hardest part of the job extraordinarily well based solely on the brand of the school (without regard to any extra effort the coach may be willing or able to exert to help) is desirable? I never would have guessed. Certainly many posting in this thread wouldn't have guessed it either.

Doesn't the fact that you had to pay him significantly more than he was making to take the job actually support the ranking?

Yes because people normally take pay cuts when they take new jobs. Especially when they leave a job where they are set for life. Makes complete sense.
