Gus could very well pull a 9-3 type regular season this year. That wasn't good enough for Tommy T. What makes you think it is for Gus... if it happens? And it is a real possibility this year.
You don't have a clue what you are talking about. You think Tuberville resigned after a 9-3 season?

We would have been doing good to win 9 games a season under Tuberville.

We will win the Iron Bowl, per Bama logic that is all we care about. Tubs went 7-3.

This is a very funny post, and absolutely true. Auburn fans were creaming themselves over the thought of BP being their next coach. In fact, most were disappointed that they had to "settle" on Malzahn. Their O&B colored glasses tell a slightly different story today.
I don't know any AU fans who refute wanting CBP that actually wanted him. The fanbase was very split over this. Some were Pro-BP and some were very anti. Some really wanted Malzahn, some thought it was settling. I don't know anyone who was just outright against Malzahn though.
I was in the category of feeling...meh on Malzahn, but I never wanted CBP.
I thought Kirby Smart would have been a good hire, but I felt it would have taken hime 2-3 good years of recruiting to field a competitive team.

You do realize there were more than two names being thrown around don't you? It wasn't Gus or BP
Exactly...they day the hire was made Kirby Smart was floating around and rumors were rampant that he had been offered the job.

Two things are known about Bobby Petrino
He's a really good coach.
His moral compass is broken.
Louisville is actually a pretty good fit for him. He's second fiddle to round ball. He's not under a microscope. He can evaluate a lot of talent and not go very far. Chicago is maybe 2 hrs away? Cincy less?

Nope. I was absolutely screaming for him as our coach last time though.
Honestly, if it is 5+ years from happening, I'd target Rhett Lashlee. I think he'll be a star in the coaching game as he gets more and more experience.
He's very young and energetic and recruits really well with the kids. He's like Dabo Swinney, but can actually coach.

ugh...you're this type of guy.
as for the question...sure if he's killing it and proves to be the best coach available then why not?
I'm not going to feign moral superiority or outrage over what he would have done (at that point) 7+ years ago.
