Not flattering Bama...Miami (and the media) was talkin' best dynasty ever when, not if, they won that game. Nobody was picking Bama; all the talking heads and experts in the media were predicting an easy double digit win for Miami. For a team that was coming off 7 top 3 finishes in 10 years, do you think they were happy with a 3-loss top 15 finish the following year? How many top 3 finishes have they had since? Miami lost their swagger, at least for a few years, after that game...

The 93 Sugar Bowl killed the Miami "dynasty". Their success was built on swagger and intimidation. Alabama stripped both from them and left them exposed.

Then Arizona the following year finished them off. They would rebuild years later, but the dynasty was dead and has never been the same since.

One I haven't seen mentioned yet... In 2007, Alabama beat the wheels off of Tennessee 41-17.

That's when it became clear that fulmer could no longer get the job done. Despite winning the east... He was as good as fired that day.

Also the blackout game at UGA in 2008 really sucked the wind out of UGA and Richt

In 2009, we dealt a serious blow to Florida and urban meyer, then went on to do the same to Texas and Mack Brown.

We definitely killed the glory days Miami dynasty in 92. They were never the same.

21-0 in 2011

Brought Notre Dame back to reality in 2012

And if Miami hadn't turned it over 4 times, they would have won that game. Hell no they weren't happy with a #15 ranking in '93. Unfortunately after Kelly, Kosar, Testaverde, Walsh, Erickson and Toretta - 15 straight years of All-American quality QB's they found themselves without one in 1993 and couldn't get one after the NCAA dropped the hammer. You are probably right but there was chatter about Miami jumping Penn State since Penn State didn't beat a top 10 team while Miami would have defeated 2 top 5 teams.

They lost 34-13 and their only touchdown was on a punt return with the game out of reach. You are truly a complete idiot.

Y'all keep wanting to take credit for killing Miami and to me it seems crazy. The 2001 Miami team was the most talented college team I have ever seen that Nick Saban didn't coach. I feel like any analysis that has Miami "dying" before say 2003-2004 is folly. Maybe they fell off after 1992, but they didn't become modern Miami (aka one I never expect to win a title ever again) until over a decade later.

Y'alls perspective is just kinda skewed I think. Y'all also think what happened between Bear and Nick was an abomination when I would give almost anything to see A&M have that level of success in my lifetime.

For the same reason I don't think 21-0 is a good answer. LSU is still a top 15 program right now. That is higher than the top 10% of college football.

when a loss kills the program as a success coach has built it to be. Sometimes that successful coach is still there, and sometimes he has moved on
2012 Loss to Louisiana Monroe derailed our program for about 3 years. Seems to be back on track for real after last season and the start to this one.

Look I lived through it. I know a lot here didn't, but that 2001 was a mild resurgence and last gasp of the program. The work was done when the mystique was shattered in the 93 USF&G Sugar bowl. Compare before and after results at the years ends. They were no longer automatic favorites, recruiting fell way off. It was slow steady decline much like you are seeing with LSU and Miles now.

LSU beat SC last year and Spurrier resigned the next week. I bet there are few people here that can tell me the Spurrier/LSU/UF connection and why it's so personal.

Well, Bill Arnsbarger was the AD at LSU, retired, went to UF as an interim AD when UF was going thru their spate of NCAA troubles, and ultimately hired SOS as UF's HC in 1990. Arnsbarger may have been a well respected D-coordinator for LSU before he became their AD.

I think that's right.

Alabama was Mississippi State in 2006. Nail in the Shula coffin that lead to glorious rebirth under Lord Saban.

Yep, and before that... I think the Michigan game where we couldn't hold a lead is what started a lack of faith in Dubose. He was the defensive coordinator under stallings ... And was totally lost in that game. The wheels came off the next season in glorious fashion. Lol

Exactly. I remember the game like it was yesterday. We know what Miami was like before that game, and what happened.

You were clinging to a 6-point 3rd quarter lead lead before one Miami interception gave Bama the ball in the red zone and you got as pick-6 on Miami's next possession. Then of course, there was "The Strip" by Teague. Oh, that's right,.....Bama is the only team capable of beating themselves.

Your comments make it painfully obvious you've never watched the game. Wouldn't you feel better if you some clue what you were talking about and how foolish you sound to someone who was there?

Alabama over Miami in the 93 Sugar Bowl ruined Miami for a good while.

And your comments make it painfully obvious that you have no clue how Miami fared in the 2 years after that Sugar Bowl and that they were slammed by the NCAA 3 years after that game. But you go ahead and keep taking credit, even though Miami went on to win a NC and got robbed of another before Bama ever sniffed another one.
