That makes sense.

To be honest, I enjoyed UT's band doing the wagon wheel program in Bryant Denny last season more than that shite the Million Dollar Band put on at half time.

Our band selections piss me off so much. Fans get all jacked up during the big LSU game last year and by the time halftime rolls around our band decides to play a "Melody of Love Songs" and the crowd wants to puke.

Oh look, more bitching. And in terms of the LSU show, the crowd did enjoy the Veterans day tribute. Didn't we talk about this 4 months ago.

I'm a band fan. Here's my serious ranking as of right now, not historically

1. LSU - in a class by themselves

2. Georgia
3. Auburn
4. Alabama

Honestly, could swap 2,3, and 4 around and be fine

5. Florida

Just below second tier

6. Gay&M

Unique fake military thing is unique

7. Arkansas
8. Ole Miss
9. South Carolina
10. Kentucky
11. Missouri

Again, swap and be fine.

12. Tennessee
13. Mississippi State

Horrible excuses for SEC bands

14. Vanderbilt

Never going to be great.

I don't know what part of the stadium you're sitting in, because all the different places I've sat the past few years the renovated concourses and bathrooms are very nice.

^^He never made it out of the state of Alabama. Crossed a county line and thought he was in a new state.

The old bathrooms in the south endzone looked and smelled much like the whole state of alabama. Actually, I think I'd rather live in the south endzone bathrooms.

Never used the endzone toilets but stank happens when drunken fans use the facilities.

Nah.
That's entirely too clever for me.
Said poster is a comedic genius.

Both you know and I know that The Fightin' Texas Aggie Band is up there with the best of 'em. Shake the haters.

If the lower forms of rant posters were to be believed A&M is gay, Mizzou's a buncha yankees, UT intentionally targets knees via invisible ninja's and top secret field turf technology, Aubie is everyone's 2nd choice, Bammer fans commit felonies for the 'team' yet call members of the team charged with felonies thugs (hmmm that one might be true j/k) and on and on it goes.

But aside from those who say such things in seriousness rather than as a tired and overused meme/jest (and it's frightening that there really are some out there), the overall lack of creativity is what's truly appalling.

The FTAB is in it's own category.
I'm not saying a "better" category; just a completely different one.
Their drills aren't "shows."
You can't really include em in a discussion like this.

I'll never understand band threads.
The kids at all schools work hard.
No need for folks to get so bent, arguing supremacy.
Obviously most people will prefer their home-cooked versions.

I was referring to the sound. The formations each band makes is secondary to me...do they sound good to my ears? That's what I care about the most.

The Fightin' Texas Aggie Band sounds great!

I did have one question about The Fightin' Texas Aggie Band...why do some band member wear the cowboy boots and some don't?

Those are seniors.
They're Senior Boots (actually not cowboy boots; they're English-style).
Corps and band members usually have em custom made ( LINK LINK).
Seniors (and juniors) also wear white belts.

I know virtually nothing about the issue, and care even less, but I'm in full support of Gary Sousa and think the nest of vipers over in administration should be held accountable for their treatment of a good and decent man whose only crime was standing up for what he believed was right in the midst of a world filled with pain and injustice. Solidarity, my Sousa brother. Solidarity.

I suspect you know more than you let on if you realize the Admin is full of vipers. Well... unless you're basing it on the fact that all administrations are full of vipers (and they really are). There's as much, and probably more, petty politics and incredibly stupid/nonsensical personal grudges within US college and university administrations as you'll find anywhere, including our congresscritters in D.C.

College and University politics at the 'administration' level rival politics anywhere. Petty, nasty, personal, and often mind-bogglingly silly.

I think there are three superior bands in the SEC:

Aggie Band - unique, can't be compared to traditional bands

Auburn & LSU - the very best at stirring up the fans and creating a great atmosphere

MSU is the best of the rest. UK is getting better but has a ways to go.
