I don't think they're really trying to demean the "smaller" crimes, just point out that crimes such as murder should take precedence over things such as this. And again, I'm not defending this guy at all.

And the letter doesn't address whether his balls touched the victim or not. Seriously, the vast majority of murders go unsolved in New Orleans and suspects barely even do jailtime compared to other states. As stupid as the incident was, much much worse goes on in the French Quarter on a nightly basis. Should be a slap on the wrist...kid already pretty much effed his life up.

If you don't want to be charged with sexual battery, don't put your balls on other people.

Meh, I am ok with that letter. The fact it comes from local representation helps a lot. It would not be a good strategy if he was represented by Alabama attorneys most likely, but this letter is intended for the public as much as the NOLA judicial system.

I work in tax law so I don't know much about that side. I'm just saying I wouldn't come out in the papers and come that close to admitting that my client did what they are saying he did.

If I'm that guy I make sure everyone knows I was drunk. I wouldn't want to be the guy that knowingly let a Bama fans puts his sack on me.

I agree, but you can't just let something go that is in the spotlight. That surely wouldn't help the city of NO

Yeah, let's not prosecute anyone because there are murders in the city too!

Great logic!

Dude needs to be punished for being an idiot.

You think there aren't other crimes the sexual victims unit (or whatever they're called) could be working?

How many unsolved sexual assaults on women and children have received as much publicity or attention as this case?

That is what common sense would tell you, but it appears many are lacking that

I get what you're saying, I just think their resources would be better served on other cases.

I find it interesting how the victim has remained fairly quiet. I imagine he would probably rather this be swept under the rug about as much as Downing.

No, I'm just saying the incompetent imbeciles working the real cases in Nola cant even solve a small portion of them. The city is a cess pool that not very many normal people would want to live in. It makes Hill Valley in "Back to the Future 2" look like Beverly Hills. There is so much real crime going on in that town that it is laughable to allocate any real resources to some college kid getting tea bagged by the alumni of another rival school. It should be a decent fine and community service at the most.
