Tennessee fans seem to forget that the year he left Tennessee was the same year he made it to the Sweet 16.

That year was actually his worst coaching job. We should have been a top four seed and instead we barely made the tourney.

The point that CNB is trying to make is that while the teams who recruit well are given the benefit of the doubt regardless of their coaches inability to put a quality product on the court, we are not given any benefit of the doubt with Frank's development of players even though over the past couple of years he has been able to do more with less. I don't know if we have ever been even in the top 1/2 of the conference in recruiting even though we've finished with the 3rd best conference record for the past 2 years.

I think Chris Silva will end up being a good example of Frank Martin's success in development.

Sure, I agree. My point though is you lose more than anyone else in the conference outside Kentucky. It's going to take a bit to get things together and it might not fully happen until the next season.

Martin is the best and I expect by year end Carolina will be a team nobody wants to play. But a team that generally doesn't score well lost all of it's scorers. That will take a bit of time to replace, especially with other teams in the league having returning experience and adding talent to mix with it.

Don't open the thread then. Some of us have lives outside of football.

LSU will be somewhere closer to the middle by the time SEC play starts.

Nothing that you're saying is wrong. However, that in and of itself is what CNB was referring to because it is the same thing we heard this time last year. "Sure you won 25 games but you lost Carrera and the 2 big Lituanians. No way you replace those guys." Thornwell and Dozier stepped up. While it will absolutely take more than just 2 guards stepping in, I think the team as a whole won't take as big of a step back as anticipated.

Like I said, wouldn't shock me in the least if we look up in February and Carolina is playing well and on the bubble.

Frank Martin is a pretty good HC too. He's found a way to still put out quality defenses, despite new rules that hardly allow you to breath on the ball handler. South Carolina could surprise some people this year, but understandably, will take a step back from a magical run.

Mississippi State, UGA, Tenner, Barn, Ole Miss, and maybe Bama.

Outside of just wanting it to be true there isn't much reason to expect LSU to be better than Alabama or Ole Miss. Alabama has a better, more experienced roster and is in year 3 of their system and program. Ole Miss returns a good roster.

The others are reasonable in a everything goes right scenario I guess.

Sooo... let me get this straight... we return everyone EXCEPT Frazier and we're bottom half of the league.. seems legit...

Georgia was 8th in the league in KenPom last year (61st overall). The rest of the league is better this year, Georgia loses it's best player/scorer and doesn't bring in any immediate impact NBA players.

Don't see what's so unreasonable about that.

I don't think is far fetched to say UGA will be bottom half with Mark Fox still being the HC.

Some people seem to still be reacting to these rankings as if this is 2012 and returning players from a mediocre team means you will be in the top half of the league because the bottom half is going to be terrible dogshite.
