Evey year Auburn does well = down year for the SEC

Okay, I think we're all on the same page now.

Tubs is right that team was the most dominant SEC team of the BCS era and it isn't really close. Every game except for like two was over at halftime

Against a schedule that had 4 total teams with a winning record. (LSU, UT, UGA,VT). Shut out 6-0 at half time by a probation depleted Bama team down to their 3rd string QB. Needed "the call" to get past an underwhelming LSU team that struggled with powerhouse programs like Troy that year.
Continued to make their case by barely getting by Va. Tech in the the Sugar Bowl.

Other than the UGA game, not so dominate against the little bit of legit competition on the schedule.

USC beat the same team by 11 in what was essentially an away game in Maryland. Auburn beat them by 3 at what was -- at best -- a neutral site game. That's the closest comparison we have, and it doesn't look good for AU.

again, that's the scoreboard watchers' perspective. like i said, auburn threw one pass in the whole 4th quarter....that would seem to indicate that they were simply content with running out the clock & getting the W, final score be damned. at the end of the day, auburn already knew they were gonna be on the outside looking in, yet they stayed focused enough to pull out the W....not trying to deflect, but a team or fanbase like bama's oughta know something about staying motivated enough to take care of business when the big prize is out of reach...

of course, hindsight's 20/20....if tubbs knew USC was gonna demolish oklahoma & we'd be having these arguments years after the fact, maybe he would've put attempted to put some style points on the board....

so you wanna ignore that usc demolished oklahoma 55-19
just as much as you wanna ignore losing by 11 at halftime to a 4 win team.
