you lol'd at Rodgers and Ratliff... did you think I posted them because they were the only ones to make it to the NFL????????????

I'm just glad we are having a civil convo. I lurked for years and it's pretty rare.

Neither of these made all pro in his second season which is what you're asking for lsu players
Which one of those LSU players will make it an allpro bowl?

Let's go ahead and knock some names off the list...
Brockers?
Taylor?
Edwards?
Montgomery (3 teams in 2 years?)?
Simon (0 stats so far; injured)
Minter? (0 stats so far) ETA: 4 solo tackles lol
Mingo? (health concerns)

lol at Ferguson and Barrow

Eric Reid looks like a pretty safe pick. Matheiu is your second best guess.

ETA: I could name off just as many Auburn players that made the NFL from the 04 team, but like I said earlier, those were off the top of my head.

No I was just thinking about

Reid, Mingo, Claiborne, Brockers

Mathieu, Minter, Logan, Ego, Taylor

in terms of what you mention we had arguably one of the best secondaries I have ever seen...our dime back was drafted in the 4th round...

Minter starts this year on a young D...maybe who knows

Brockers plays on a D line with Aaron Donald, Robert Quinn, and Long...he better blow up.

Claiborne also has the tools...he just needs to get out of Dallas...3 D coordinators in 3 years

Mingo is also healthy he got hurt last year for the first time I have ever seen him...no worries this year will tell us alot about him too.

He missed half the preseason, or more, with an injury, and rode the bench as a rookie.

That's one of the players you are hanging your hat on?

Brockers
Missing half the preseason isn't going to shoot him up the depth chart. You're not wrong, he better blow up to do anything in the NFL.

So looking at your NFL players so far... would you say that to have 3 all-pro defenders on that team would be optimistic/best-case-scenario?

What does it matter who makes the pro bowl? We're talking about college careers.

VY is a perfect example. Never was a great NFL QB, but that doesn't take away from the fact he was one of the greatest to ever play QB in CFB

So you are saying that uber-talented LSU 2011 defense can only produce AT MAX 3 all-pros while the under-talented/over-rated 2004 Auburn defense has produced 2?

Wow. Overwhelming argument for how talented that 2011 defense was compared to Auburns 2004 team.

I didnt say at max

and all pro isnt the be all measure of a great defense...

nfl starters, draft (measures talent), nfl rosters etc.

just because a player is a bust doesnt mean he wasnt talented...Jamarcus is a damn good example...definitely talented.

a scoreboard watcher would say "they only won by 3". everyone else would say VT never got the ball with a chance to tie or win the game, and auburn threw just one pass in the entire 4th quarter....whatever the final score said, auburn was warming up the bus long before the gun sounded.

USC beat the same team by 11 in what was essentially an away game in Maryland. Auburn beat them by 3 at what was -- at best -- a neutral site game.

That's the closest comparison we have, and it doesn't look good for AU.

So you wanna ignore that "offensive pi" call against vt and play that card?

so you wanna ignore that usc demolished oklahoma 55-19 while auburn was sleepwalking against va tech? if you auburn fans wanted to claim a share the NC in 04 than your team needed to make a statement against va tech and they didn't.

I'm not a Nebraska fan, but the '95 Huskers would destroy any college team from any era. I think that team could have competed with some NFL teams.

Wait, you think a team that ran the triple option could compete against some nfl teams? Wow

You were not selected for the championship game based on the criteria of the time. You can make all sorts of claims about who you WOULD have beaten, but you were not the national champions. You didn't play in the game

Once again...speculate all you want. You didn't win it. 2004 auburn - kings of the "we would have".

Tubbs was always content to get some type of lead and then let his defense finish the game.
