How much longer are people going to continue to focus on that one game from nine years ago?
Because it's proof Saban needs alot of talent to win. A great coach doesn't lose those games. It's not hard to win once you are handed a bunch of 5*s players on a silver platter.

Im sorry Bama fans have a mental block when it comes to negative facts about Bama but it doesnt change them. Saban is winning because he has been given a free pass to cheat at will. He has been caught doing everything that the other schools have been nailed for. It's not because Bama is so great or he out coaches anyone. It's because he doesn't have to follow the same rule the rest of the coaches have to. Almost any coach would win like him under those circumstances.

This whole thread doesn't seem to jive with the Bama Bump and NFL Busts theories. I think we need to just pick a side and stick with it. Does Bama win because of talent or in spite of overrated talent?

The game would be billed "Superstar vs Half a Star"

(insert longest yard gif of Chris Rock)

So, Saban was handed all that talent?

Does Saban get to keep his 9 assistant coaches and 20+ coaching "analyst" staff?

Out of curiosity....can you name the last National Championship team that did not have a lot of talent?

Petrino don't need no 5*'s just give me a fog (smoke) machine and a couple mirrors and I will be set is his motto.

When he was told he didn't have to follow the same rules as everyone, that is as good as handing it to them. When u can pay and everyone else gets punished, I call that handing it to him.

You have a serious Bama problem. Provide specific examples of Saban or any of his coaches paying a high school recruit to sign with Bama. Actual examples not fairy tales from auburn forums.

You may be right. Outside of Bama, Saban's HC record is not that impressive

Taking over a probation riddled Michigan state team and taking them to a rose bowl. Taking over a down LSU and winning two SEC titles and a national title in 5 years. These aren't impressive to you?

That's hard to till because Petrino seem to struggle the most against Bama when he was at Arkansas. I don't think Petrino could ever match Saban's talent because he is not a recruiter . He is more of a play caller.

He took over two P5 schools that needed some serious rebuilding to do. That being MSU and lSU. Both are serious contenders year in and year out now. Not to say he is the reason for them but they were horrible when he took over. at MSU they were beyond horrible.

He took over an equally bad situation at Bama and had then contending in year 2.

If they're already melting this hard, just wait until they get manhandled by VT today.

Petrino and Saban have been coaching on a level playing field for years, and Saban has destroyed him. It's Petrino's own fault that he hadn't the talent Saban has.

Your proposition is like me saying I would beat Usain Bolt in a sprint if I had his speed.
