How many of these fake medical scholarship players have transferred so they could play football somewhere else?

You're not allowed to play anywhere after taking a medical hardship. It's a formal procedure with the NCAA, not the individual school and you have to sign a waiver stating you won't compete in any college athletics ever again.

I think part of the policy behind medical hardships is to provide players with medical insurance on chronic injuries post-career. It's a compromise. Players who are well enough to play don't qualify but those who go through the hardship route get extended coverage (although I'm not entirely sure on this).

A friend of mine played college football and went on medical hardship after tearing up his knee. He's almost 40 now and still has the occasional surgery on the knee (scoping, etc.). The NCAA has to pay for those surgeries.

Ezekial Knight tried to play at Texas State and then Stillman College (in Tuscaloosa), but their medical staffs wouldn't clear him either.

How many more years can AU blame everything on Tuberville? Is Chizik bringing in fewer players?

will this oversigning post ever go away. i thought the rule was only signing 25 players a year no matter what. does not matter if you have 70 players or not. that is what hurts schools with probation. look at how many signed over 25 what is the rule.

It's a fact that he had a terrible rate of players either not making it into school in the first place or failing out of school. This is why Chizik was able to oversign so much last year.

I just went back and looked at Tuberville's 06, 07 and 08 classes on rivals. Those are pretty much the classes that Chizik came into when he was hired(including some of the 09 class, but, I'll leave that off). And I'll leave off the 05 class since quite a few of those guys weren't around when Chizik was hired.

The first # is the # of signees and the second is the # of guys that either didn't make it from those classes or that transferred/left when Chizik was hired(and there is always some of that at every school when a new coaching staff comes in) - 06 - 25/11, 07 - 30/17, 08 - 28/17

So, out of 83 guys in those 3 years, 45 didn't make it under Tuberville/coaching change. With all due respect to him, he brought in some great players, but he did a horrible job of getting guys to make it in and/or stay in.

Out of the 09 class, Lavoyd James, Reggie Taylor, Taikwon Paige, Izauea Lanier and Terrance Coleman didn't make their grades. Brandon Jacobs also signed an MLB baseball contract. And we only had one guy not make his grades last year. We'll see what happens with this years class.

That's the jist of why we signed 28 in 09 and 32 last year.
