Yes. The two were best friends up until the day Redden tragically died from an unknown heart malady while playing a pickup game with Blanton(Very similar to Pistol Pete's end). Blanton was even dating Redden's sister at the time. That '06 team could have won it all and I believe they would have if Nakita Wilson had not gotten academically suspended at mid-season. He might have made the difference against Louisville in Dallas. The good ol' days indeed.
