Nothing says "we suck" like having to find some morsel like % of graduates owning season tickets to about.

I tend to agree. There's not a whole lot of a reason for anyone to be an A&M fan if they didn't go to school there or don't come from an A&M family. It's typically easier to be a Texas fan for better athletics over time. It's just a really, really strange place and culture to anyone who didn't go there. That's not a knock, fwiw. I think Aggies realize that.

I mean. It isn't strange to all, but believe what you want.

I imagine LSU wasn't relevant enough to make the article - that's really what the OP is whining about

Not all, but certainly you can see that a great majority of people find a lot of it quite weird. I'm not saying it's bad or good but it is odd.

As stated earlier, people often leave Alabama upon graduation to go to Houston, Atlanta, Nashville, etc for jobs. Those that are local, didn't attend the University, and have the income to support owning season tickets have the right to do so. Why should Alabama apologize for having broad appeal? It's a stupid argument people make.

Good job, you have him playing defense and we all know they can't play D.

Non-alum fans count as 3/5 of a fan.

A great majority of people don't find it weird to be honest.

Well all undergraduate students count against that number, plus any businesses that buy tickets.

I'm thinking before Saban came to LSU, about 80% of the people in the stands were alums, and even those would have preferred the Saints had they been decent at the time.

Well I'm not saying Bama should apologize for anything, but what you're describing isn't broad appeal. What your describing is a weaker economy in Mobile/Birmingham relative to other major cities, and intense local appeal. Broad appeal would be massive people going from Houston, Atlanta to Tuscaloosa, not the other way around.

Well you're wrong on both counts but that isn't surprising. Please keep acting like the 90's were an accurate reflection of LSU football throughout history, though. That's a fun meme.

Not when they actually learn about it anyway. When I graduated a lot of my Sooner family came down and they were blown away by our campus and traditions. They even commented on how backwards they had it.

Serious question here: what is it that causes others to say it's a weird culture at A&M?

Are we shocked to find out less people care about Washington football besides their alums than care about Bama football?

You have all male 'yell leaders' instead of a co-ed cheerleading squad. You do 'midnight yell practice' instead of going out to bars and hanging out like normal college kids. You sing and chant like a cult during the game. etc. etc, etc, ad nauseum.
