He will end up on the practice squad and then
halfway thru the season he will get cut from it.

Dude's a hard worker. He may surprise you. If he gets cut he's not good, if he makes the team it's because of his sexual preference.

So sayeth the rant

You won't hear me make that argument. And, FtR, I hope he makes it. Seems like a nice guy and a hard worker.

This is pretty close, IMO. He won't be cut this year at all, and may still be on the PSquad next year or he'll be picked up by another team on waivers and bounce around like that for a while. If he isn't picked up, he'll get cut this year or next.

That is of course assuming he doesn't legitimately make the team and become a good player. It is entirely possible he does that as well.

Also, he didn't drop precisely because he is gay, but more because of the circus/frenzy that comes along with it. He should have just had his press conference, done a single interview and left it at that. All this reality show crap and everything that followed him is what hurt his stock more than a slow 40 time.

Yes they can (and most likely will).

They have cover, if they hated gays they never would have drafted him after all.

However he is the first player who approaches his employment from a circus style media frenzy and by doing so brings in a boat load of media whores focusing a rather large spotlight on everything but football and championships.

He is just openly gay. Are there other openly gay players who just don't have the media attention?

No way in hell they'll cut him. The backlash would be Donald Sterling like.

My bad on making a point about two players at the same position on opposite ends of the spectrum talent wise with opposing results.

Further more from here on out I'll pass all comments through you for approval prior to posting.

Thinking about going with frick off gamecocks22 next. What do you think?

Clowney didn't play this past season? or their bowl game? better check your figures on this statement. I am curious to keep watching you guys go at each other, though!

When was the last time the SEC defensive player of the year got drafted in the seventh round? I'll wait.

The last time one put out combine numbers as bad as Sam's would be my guess. Look, he got 9 of his sacks in 3 games. It's not like he was a beast all year. Why do you insist on making him more than he is? He was slow and weak at the combines, he had the vast majority of his production in 3 of the 14 games he was in. If you would think rationally and honestly, you would admit that he is a long shot. If he is good enough he will flourish. It wouldn't be the first time a 7th round pick did well in the NFL...but you have to admit that he is a longshot.

Oh, and by the way...to insinuate that he dropped to the 7th round because he came out as gay is just dishonest. Teams were saying he would possibly go undrafted BEFORE he came out.

It was a tongue in cheek comment implying that he had quit, aka wasn't really there.

If you are going to be a fan, you need to be able to pick up on this stuff.

It's a shame that the people whom vote for the SEC DPOY didn't have access to his stats. They really should wait until the end of the season to vote you know? So they could see the pertinent information like that.

Maybe next year.

Is that any more far flung than saying if he doesn't make the team it is because he is gay?

I agree with 808. He is, by all accounts, and very hard worker and gives it his best from quarter 1 to the end of quarter 4. If he has the talent he will make the team and do well. If he does not have the talent he will get cut.

While I may not agree with his lifestyle, it should have nothing to do with his NFL career.

Actually, since the guy seems a little too Hollywood at this point, I think it will be easier to cut him if he doesn't perform. Most coaches would say they don't like dealing with outside distractions and want to focus on football. It seems like he is adding more distractions. He probably should've passed on the documentary. But if he's really good, they'll deal with it for a little while.

Thank you for refuting my information. You shed a lot of light on the subject.

I see you ignored the fact that he was projected to go undrafted before he came out. Amazing he wasn't gone in the first round. I mean...he thought he should have.
