But if he doesn't get cut it's because he's a homosexual? You won't hear me make that argument. And, FtR, I hope he makes it. Seems like a nice guy and a hard worker.
Not saying you are making this argument but that's kind of the whole point of this thread is it not?

Look, he got 9 of his sacks in 3 games.
I don't get why this is a deal. Clowney got ALL of his sacks in 3 games. 1 in each game.

It is the point of the thread. But it's the Rant. So a lot of time it's disconnected from real life.

Thank you for refuting my information. You shed a lot of light on the subject.
His overall body of work was good enough that the people who choose didn't care about your 9 sack in 3 games stat.

He will get his fair shot. If he doesn't perform, he's gone.

Why are we the only 3 ever here anymore?

Ouch! Actually, Clowney made his career with the sack verse Michigan in their bowl game. He was/is a physical specimen with strength and speed and size. Sam has none of those in respect to the position he plays. Therein lies the difference.
He may well become a beast in the NFL. I still think he would have been better off just going out and playing football. He did himself no favors making his sexual preferences an issue.

It seems like he is adding more distractions.
Minimal distractions at best. They came out this morning and said there is no intent to film any practices or at any of the Rams facilities. I am not sure what exactly that leaves them with to make a show out of, but that's their problem to figure out.
It's a little silly to say that show, that will have little if any interaction with other rams players from the sound of it, though would be a distraction to the team. Lots of players (albeit not rams) have endorsements etc outside of their day to day football stuff.

True. But NFL scouts did. Isn't that what this thread is about? How the NFL (Rams specifically) handles the situation?

As I mentioned before though Sam has the drive that Clowney apparently doesn't.
On top of that he has a lot of motivation from everything surrounding his situation.

Cuz we're retarded.

I don't know that Clowney doesn't have the drive. I think he was just protecting his value. He could have hurt his value by doing that, but it apparently worked out for him. While I thought Clowney pulled back a bit last season, he got away with it because of immense natural talent. (Although, I also believe he worked very hard to develop that natural talent)
Sam will work very hard to improve upon his talents. Unfortunately for him, he does not have as much natural talent to develop, so he is more limited than Clowney.
Out of curiosity, since you are a Mizzou fan....how far off was his strength and speed numbers at the combine? He appeared to have excellent quickness in the film I have seen on him, and he does not seem to give up on a play. Relentless in pursuit. Were his combine numbers deceiving, or were they normal for him?

I am nowhere near knowledgeable enough to answer that.

I'm sure the numbers can be found somewhere, but all in all, it really doesn't matter. If he can help them win, the Rams will keep him. If he becomes a distraction and he cannot overshadow those distractions with performance, they will cut him. Only time will tell.

That's the one where a hobbit is trying to make the team at Notre Dame, right?

Well, I think the network decided to put the show on hold for now because apparently the Rams coaches and players weren't too enthusiastic about it. I read that he signed a deal to do it before the draft (assuming he got drafted), but didn't tell the Rams about it. Also, his agents and publicist were supposed to be producers on the show. So I still feel that he's a little Hollywood and that could hurt him as an unproven player trying to make a team.

NEWS FLASH: The NFL is a business
NEWS FLASH: The Rams are a business
It is NOT all about a player's performance on the field. It is about the player's contribution to team profits.
There are millions of gays and lesbians in this country. If even 10% of them purchase a Michael Sam jersey, how much does that add to profit margins? What about the folks who will purchase the jersey as a show of "solidarity?"
The NFL is full of marginal players who might (or might not) make the roster and who can fill a special teams role.
So, does team management keep a "no name" player with marginally-greater skills who will never start an NFL game OR a Michael Sam who will make million$ for the team while never starting a game?
If you see that as being a remotely close call, I have a bridge I would love to sell you

Being a seventh rounder the odds are against him, but knowing the firestorm that would come with his release will the Rams dare cut him if he doesn't work out? I say no.
Yes, of course.
