Sumlin would be a great hire by Ole Miss. He should be a top candidate imo.

Honestly think Hudspeth at ULL makes more sense. He knows the state well from his time at State, and already has the recruiting contacts he needs to hit the ground running.

I definitely see your point. Hope ULL can keep him a few more years. He has been great for Lafayette.

Okay - let's assume he's open to it - he's got a contract through 2015 at Houston, at about $1.15 million a year. If he finishes undefeated, he can certainly add a year onto that and get to $1.5 million.

The expectations at Houston are nothing - yeah he's got to recruit against an SEC member aTm, as well as LSU and Texas, now, BUT - why go to a coaching graveyard like Ole Miss?

David Cutcliffe was doing a good job and got chased out for the "next big thing". Sumlin is 47 - he may get antsy close to the end of his current run at Houston, but, honestly, I think he stays at least 2 more seasons.

I'm a big UNA fan so I've seen him up-close & personal. Not sure if his offense would work with physicality of SEC. He's certainly better than Terry Bowden tho.

As bad as things are, they may well end up with Kevin Federline.

You can't deny what Huds has done at ULL. They've only lost about as many games this year as they won all last year. That's a heck of a turnaround.

Archie is in charge of the coaching search and I have full faith in him. But I want sumlin and I have been following Houston since the vandy game with great interest.

Not denying he's a good coach, but he was pushed around in the playoffs by more physical teams. Seemed to have problems with discipline as well.

I don't know about his time at UNA, just what he did at State and now ULL. The only incident I remember a ULL player having was the one who a passenger in a car pulled over by Lafayette PD. Dude panicked and jumped in the driver's seat and pulled off before being caught. How dumb was that?

Sorry, I didn't make that clear. It wasn't the players' discipline I was talking about.....

Ole Miss got tall order to fill if they stay in SEC. They will continue to have problems recruiting with LSU and Bama pulling talent from them not to mention in state problems with Miss St competing for the guys who want to say in Mississippi.
