So basically things we already knew. Thanks for no new information.

This is too good. It's hard to put into words.

the way the REC is set up

What do you know about the REC other than what you've read on AU message boards? The REC is THOUSANDS of members strong. There is a waiting list for most of the clubs. You can't have an organization with that many members (i.e. egos and mouths) and cheat the way you claim without someone in said organization wanting to make sure that those in his circle know he helped land X recruit. And if one guy talks then word gets around and it all crashes down. That's not happened b/c the REC doesn't do what you claim it does.

Not saying Bama doesn't skirt the rules and have some organization in doing so (and I hope you aren't too homer to acknowledge AU does the same). I am saying it doesn't happen they way you laid out in your fairy tale post.

real influencers at the high schools

Like Julian Cazanas, JR? Robenson Therezie says hi.

extended family

who made the choice for Cam Newton to go to AU? Look back at articles. Cam said his dad walked into the room one night and said, "It's Auburn". Cam said, "cool".
(NOTE: I am NOT saying AU cheated to get Cam. Just telling you who made the call).

getting into the decision making process long before a player emerges as a recruit

Which is, officially, in 9th grade. So you are saying that Bama systematically recruits 6th, 7th, and 8th graders through family connections in hopes that they can use that family connection as influencers in a decision that will be made 3+ years later. That's a massive stretch, but if a team is that dedicated, organized, and successful then I'm not even mad at 'em.

You're so naive. When in fact it may happen exactly like that. You still think it has to do with the actual recruits. Ole Miss thought the same thing. The 17 yr old recruit that makes a heady decision about where he goes to school is the exception rather than the rule. Particularly of the socioeconomic status that most recruits come from. To think otherwise is naive.

It's like politics... the rank and file plebeian thinks it's about the politician as if that's where the influence lies. So they go on social media railing about Trump or Hillary or whatever senator during hour who makes the news when none of that matters. The power and influence is 3 levels deeper than that. Sure the REC is thousands of members strong but the influence lies within the power structure not the rank and file.

Football in the south (in particular the state of Alabama, because of the history) is more about power and influence than it is about football. If you can hold sway over a group of people no matter what tool you use, you have power. That's how the REC works. It's why I don't pay much attention to the "you mad, bro?" bozos on this board. I'm not mad, I'm merely pointing out what is obvious if you peel the onion back a few layers.

Keep thinking Bama is on the up and up. That's fine by me.
