My college wild girl was a Kirk Academy grad.

Coach34 went to MRA. You should get him to lead the charge, sure he would be happy to.

I wasn't a private school lady like all of you were. I just fricked them when they got to college.

Its not an MRA thing. Its a Mississippi thing - I was using the silent auction example as an example. Outside of Starkville and Oxford, it is extremely difficult to find MSU/Ole Miss items - and when you do, there's just as much LSU/Alabama to choose from.
I chalk it up to this - like the rest of the South, much of the state is not educated - but unlike Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana, we have not had historic every year winners for sidewalk fans to latch on to, so they latch on to LSU and Alabama because they are insecure.
I have NEVER ran into a diehard State/Ole Miss fan that did not have some tie to the university. (Went there, their parents went there, etc.) I'm sure they exist, but they are rare. I have a friend who went to Delta State (played football), whose parents went to Auburn. He's one of those "I'd rather see State do well than Ole Miss, but I really don't care" fans, and that's alright.
I have had experiences like last week, when walking with my family around the new Outlets of Mississippi, a trashy looking Rankin County redneck came up to me and yelled Rawl Tide because I had an MSU visor on.

No lie. There was something about this girl. I ended up marrying a Jackson Prep grad, but that chick from Kirk Academy was one I wouldn't bring home to momma.

This is not an issue in Central MS from what I've seen. I live in Kosciusko and it's mostly MSU stuff with some Ole Miss.

I'm just really not interested in running in circles where people tattoo "Go to Hell Ole Miss" on their stomach and have a Mississippi State logo on the back of their neck.
At least they used the more modern M-State logo rather than the old one, I guess.

Everybody in my family are State/Auburn/LSU grads but I've been an OM fan since I was about 5. I have no idea how I got started tbh

You seriously need to get out more. Every state university in the country, with a competent athletics department, has a rather large "sidewalk" contingent. Do you actually think the roughly 200,000 or so living Alumni (and that's the higher end of the spectrum) are paying all the bills?

Absolutely not. I'm just saying that in Mississippi, most of the sidewalk alumni are LSU and Alabama fans, which is the problem I present in this thread.
State and Ole Miss need to unite in this problem. I would rather Johnny iwho has never been outside Kemper County be a diehard Ole Miss fan than an Alabama or LSU fan - its good for our state.
There is a secretary sitting 20 feet from me right now who has more Alabama stuff on her desk than you can imagine. She went to Hinds Community College and grew up in Jackson. Yet she is as big of Alabama fan as you will find. Came in last week declaring it "hate week" and putting crap all over my desk and jabbing me a little on Monday.
I have zero problem with it, I even jabbed back some pre-game, fan is short of fanatic, but if you start thinking about it - this woman has lived her entire life in the middle of Mississippi, did not go to college, yet is an Alabama fan for life.

I've been a diehard fan since I was 12. I did attend eventually. My parents didn't even graduate HS.
