The grove is a good time. My only thing is I do not understand what would make it anymore "fun" then somewhere else. It is definitely unique, but I would say even at Ole Miss more actual fun can be had at other parts of campus

Every LSU fan ever says this. It must bug the shite out of you that no major media outlet seems to agree with this.
I went once during the mercy knee game. I need to go back when it's more lively. Place looks great, it was just dead due to the season Ole Miss was having.

they don't know any better because they rarely go there.

Why would they need to go there often to form an opinion?

A travel writer comes to Oxford, likes it, and writes about it. The point of those kinds of articles aren't a "hey, spend the rest of your life here" but rather "hey, here's something interesting that you should check out."

The Grove is very unique. Sorry that you're too blinded by your Ole Miss butthurt to accept that other people really like it.

Tailgating is all over campus at Ole Miss, it's just centered on the Grove. It also takes on different identities when you move to different areas. The Grove and Circle is for the more prim and proper type of tailgating Ole Miss is known for, whereas the rest of campus isn't so much.

I had an awesome time at Ole Miss last year for the LSU game. The Grove isnt my thing and I enjoy LSU tailgating alot more but it's really cool to see and I still got hammered.

I don't see why this has to be such a dick measuring contest. Obviously both tailgating scenes are outstanding. There isn't a loser. Both are awesome and unique to the fanbase, state, and school traditions.

My step family is coming down who are all Ole Miss fans (little brother goes there, step mom went there). We are setting up a tailgate, and she asked who are we going to get to cater it.

I stopped that Ole Miss tailgating mentality real fast.

I've been many times and it is a great time, but I still fail to see how it is so incredibly unique as compared to some other places I have been. Maybe there just aren't a lot of places with a neat central area of campus with crossing sidewalks and trees and tents set up right next to eachother outside of Alabama and Ole Miss (and parts of UGA), but I have seen it multiple places, and it's freaking awesome at all 3.

Still a really cool fun experience, I just have never quite understood why it is talked about like there is nothing else in America like it.

Because we are each other's natural rivals. It'll always be that way.

I frequent 7 to 8 tents whenever I can manage going to a game...and the only tent that could be considered "catered" is because the guy's a caterer.

Tailgating in the Quad at Alabama kinda reminds me of The Groove actually. I'll delete this post later, but Bama's tailgating scene is kinda underrated IMO

I've been to a lot of football games both in college and in pro, and the fact that Ole Miss (and Alabama) don't tailgate in actual parking lots, drink higher-end booze instead of Bud Light, and have good Southern food makes them unique.

I also think that the whole "bowties and boatshoes" thing is overdone a bit, but again it's not something that's common outside of our neck of the woods.

We always wake up early and start cooking. I certainly understand the convenience of catering considering two of the best caterers out there were started in Oxford.

A lot of it has to do with it just recently becoming a big thing because we didn't play big games in Tuscaloosa until the late 90's. That's my guess.
