Do you remember the Witherspoon kid Houston had at RB? He had legs like Derrick's dog in the av. Maybe he had none, I don't know ...but his center of gravity was like a bowling ball. No sense in trying to tackle him either. I think we finally had to settle on just kinda laying him to one side whenever he ran the ball.

No, it's a good thing that they're the way they are. Those are power-hound legs. Roid legs! Bet that's one very cold nose too!

looks like you could do a 30 for 30 on the rise and fall of the SWC.

I guess so. They were running that one back offense at the time. Their passing attack could kill ya, so it made him even more lethal for any defense.

I don't see that happening with the SEC.

What is so sad is that Arkansas is where John Jenkins got his start. If you look at the assistants that have been with J Frank or Lou its like a who's who of football.

But I guess splicing Porn into px and game film and having extra money in your top left hand drawer (as taguht well by Bill Yeoman) is a way to win games, just not the way J Frank or Lou taught him. I wonder who taught him to bleach his hair though?

There's a long list of people who don't like Dean Weber.

You kinda went over my head on that one, at least with the extracurriculars. I learn something new every day on here!

John Jenkins was OC and HC at Coog High. He started as a GA for Lou or GWF, not sure which one before going to Arkansas High. When they started to take down Coog High for infractions under his watch the story was he was splicing porno into films during meetings and he had a slush fund, which was the reason Pardee was hired, to clean up the stuff. Bill Yeoman HC at Coog High before Pardee had a drawer in his desk, if you needed money you just got it no questions asked (rumor) but I believe it.

There's a lot of us around who remember it. Comparing notes with other people who remember it is kinda fun though. It helps you remember some things you've forgotten and see some things from another angle.

See ...I had forgotten about all that. That freshened up my memory! That could be a entire chapter, all its own!

Great thread for a younger Hog fan.

My first game was the last one Vs Texas in Little Rock. I was 8. I remember going to the game but thats about it.

Not being from that era and living in central Arkansas I feel like we are a whole lot better fit in the SOUTH eastern conference.

Not even close. The SWC refs ripped us out of several big UT/UA games. Two I know of had NC on the line. Those were during the Broyles era and one during Holtz's first year. Holtz was responsible for allowing coaches to exempt a paticular ref from a matchup.

I remember the first game with Houston in BB the year they joined the conference. They were very good. It was in Fayetteville and televised. Martin Terry and the Hogs blew them out by approx. 40 pts. Remember the tall red-headed radio man for the Hogs always yelling and screaming about refs calls when we played Houston in later years. Especially the games against Drexler and Olajuwon. I think he got fired for all that animation. IMO the SWC turned to crap in the late 80's and even the best SWC teams could not win a bowl game to save their lives....Arkansas included.
