He was nowhere near as bad of a coach as you guys make him out to be and I honestly don't understand the animosity.
Nussmeier was a good coordinator but I don't believe he and Saban agreed philosophically. You notice how we started to move away from the ground and pound and switch more toward a zone read kind of blocking scheme over the last two seasons - this year especially. Nussmeier's style of offense reminded me a lot of Major Applewhite's. The only difference is Nussmeier had quite a bit of talent to work with.

His offense at USC was so amazing
It was when he was an OC at USC...which is what I mentioned in my OP.

What are you lol'ing about?
Any OC who tries 3 straight passes on the 1 yard line against Texas A&M's defense should not be coaching at Bama, period. That bull shite cost us that game, and almost a natty.
That decision, the issues with Henry, and many others that I'm too lazy to type out are why this I'm fricking STOKED his arse is gone. Sorry pal. Better watch your back with Cam though, we have a history of snatching your talent. ;)

CBS is about to go ahead and exercise their night game option for October 25.

is it really a decline for bama? with their stable of backs all you have to do is run left run right.
Makes you wonder why he wouldn't do that

As someone put in the other post:
Bama lost 3 games with Nuss as OC
2012 A&M: L 24-29
431 total yards
34 passing attempts 309 yards
31 rushing attempts 122 yards
(Bama D allowed 418 yards)
2013 Auburn : L 28-34
495 total yards
29 passing attempts 277 yards
35 rushing attempts 218 yards
(Bama D allowed 296 rushing yards)
2013 Oklahoma: L 31-45
516 total yards
30 passing attempts 387 yards
35 rushing attempts 129 yards
(Bama D allowed 429 yards)
Doesn't seem like Nuss's offense was what caused Bama to lose. But nobody wants to blame King Saban's defense.

Mr. Nussmeier was encouraged to seek opportunities in November.

Im fine with it. He can recruit and playcall at an elite level.
Did you see his elite playcalling this year and his only year at TN ? He made his reputation on USC QBs and Reggie Bush. Bad hire if true.

The grass isn't always greener, pal. Especially not the very next year when you have both a new QB and new OC...and most likely a new LT.

Hey pal, as long as Derrick Henry is carrying the rock, IDGAF about a new quarterback or OC. Bookmark this post and next year you'll see what the frick I'm talking about.

Some head coaches don't do as good a job calling plays as they did when they were the OC. Fact of the matter is, Lane Kiffin presided over a USC offense in 2005 that averaged nearly 600 yards per game. And in the 3 years he was the recruiting coordinator at USC the Trojans finished with the #1 class every single year.
He was an excellent play caller as a coordinator and was one hell of a recruiter. Piece of shite human being though. But I do have to admit I would be intrigued if we hired him. Saban spoke of hitting the "reset" button after we lost to Oklahoma. I am starting to really wonder what changes he has in mind.
