So the ACC wins a championship in football over Bama.

Now the ACC has scheduled their Media Days on the same days as the SEC has been holding ours for the past 25 years.

Power play .... or not?

Are they making their move?

ETA1: Every ACC bone smoker in this thread can frick off.

ETA2: This change in their Media schedule coincides with their network launch.

ETA3: Their talking points will be their claim that they have caught or surpassed the SEC.

ETA4: Let me put it to you in plain political terms from someone who lived through it in the 70s.

The ACC is Obama/Hillary.

The SEC is Reagan/Trump.

If you want the truth on why the ACC has improved just look at coaching

Who is the second best coach in the SEC after Saban?

The SEC has some pretty meh coaches right now

Lol outside of Dabo and Jimbo how much do you think the media is going to pay attention to the coaches from other ACC schools.

No doubt. The SEC has been dominated by 'Bama. But on the whole people care more about what happens to the likes of UF, LSU, UGA, UT, A&M, etc than they do what happens to GT, NC State, UVA, Bc, or even VT and Miami.

TV ratings dictate power in CFB. SEC is still king. America wants to watch the SEC...ACC not so much.

I'll go Trump on you: the tv ratings were yuuuuuuge.

A few tidbits for you from 2016:

quote:

The 2016 SEC ON CBS season averaged more viewers than any college football network package with an average of 5.7 million viewers. The 17-game SEC ON CBS slate delivered four of the Top 10 most-watched games of the regular-season.

Only 2 for the ACC. And one of those involved an SEC team.

quote:

The SEC Championship on December 3 was the highest-rated and most-watched Conference Championship game – as it has been every year since 2007

quote:

ABC’s ACC Championship Game Down From 2015
Saturday’s ACC Championship Game on ABC –
featuring Clemson/Virginia Tech – earned a 3.3 final rating and 5.3 million viewers, down 20% in ratings and a third in viewership from Clemson/North Carolina last year (4.1, 7.9M) and the lowest rated and least-watched ACC title game since the event last aired on cable in 2012 (1.2, 2.0M)

Alabama vs. WashingtonPeach Bowl
10.7 Rating 19.344 million viewers

Clemson vs. Ohio State Fiesta Bowl
9.8 Rating 19.237 million viewers.

QB play as well. The ACC had Jackson, Watson, Francois and Evans. The SEC had jack shite. It goes in cycles.

Okay. But you know damn well there isn't that much interest in a lot of ACC football outside of the top 3-4. That can't be said for the SEC, even the bottom half programs garner way more interest than the BCs, WFs, and UVAs of the world.

eta: This genuinely isn't a knock on Clemson. They can't help that most of the conference doesn't emphasize football as much as they and FSU do.

That much more people watch Vandy, Miss St, Ole Miss, Kentucky?

The gap between the leagues isn't that much. And last year the ACC was better

Yes it was better. But I'd still willing to be that more people care about the bottom rung football programs of the SEC than they do about the bottom rung football programs in the ACC.

I mean. They have small schools and small stadiums, but can you really doubt the commitment the MS schools have to their teams? Relative to that of Duke of BC football teams?

You are really giving the South Carolina rides the SEC coattails narrative some traction
