If Bama can stand just on its name why have there been so many coaches since Bear?
I think that could be contributed to a combination of bad hires and probation. Stallings had a losing record as a football coach and won a NC championship at Bama in 92, and almost repeated the following year. Ray Perkins also had some very good teams and some legendary players in Alabama history even though he never won a NC there. Curry, Dubose and Shula were bad hires IMO.

Its amazing what happens when you put the top coach at the premier school in the SEC.

Saban didn't make Bama (like he did LSU). He elevated it back to where it had previously been.
Saban "MADE" LSU? Oh really?
FYI dumbass, LSU was the 12th winningest CFB program of ALL TIME """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""before""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""Saban's happy arse landed in Baton Rouge.
We also were the 9th best program in bowl appearances""""""""""""before""""""""""Saban.
NO ONE knew WTF Saban WAS before 2000. LSU MADE Saban, not the other way around.
In case you don't remember, Dinardo won 27 games and 3 straight bowl games in 1995, 1996, and 1997, including beating Bama 27-0 at Tuscaloosa.
So don't give me that RETARDED argument that Saban "made" LSU. That is so preposterous as to be laughable.........

Fantastic. Bama had been to more bowl games & had more bowl victories than ANY other college before Saban and has maintained that disctinction since he's been here, yet it doesn't stop LSU fans from saying Saban "made" Bama. You don't like the way it feels coming back at you, nancy?

Any moron who would brag about beating a 4-7 Bama team needs a reality check. That '97 team was under a 1st year coach who was an absolute idiot.
My point was that Saban took LSU to heights they'd not been in nearly 50 years. That is a fact. He took Bama to places we hadn't been in 17 years. Bama averaged 10 wins per season under Stallings for 7 years. When was the last 7 year run LSU had where they averaged 10 wins per year? Has it ever happened and, if so, who long before Saban?
