Not true since Auburn lost two games this year.

A moe realistic question would be, "Has Saban peaked?"

Last year was his peak. It's all down hill from here.

I would say he's plateaued. It isn't really possible for him to go up, and I would say it's too soon to apply a decline label to him (especially considering the way he bounced back after 2010).

LSU fans can't rationally answer Saban questions.

Yeah you're right, an oversight on my part.

But really since the answer you seek is a different question, why don't you just change the title to, do you think Gus can win a natty?

Gus at AU is Spurrier at UF

Thinking he'll leave for the NFL then return to a different program to lead them out of the basement?

My money is on him reviving Arkansas.

I made a detailed analysis of Gus last month: Did Gus bust too early.

The OP:

quote:

The last two coaches took at least a season to hit their peak and it seems that the time from hiring to peak to firing is getting noticeably shorter at Auburn. Did Gus climax too early?

Did he set expectations too high by getting to the BCS NCG in his first season? Won't anything less than a National Championship forever be a disappointment?

Could he potentially be fired after a nine win season a la Frank Solich?

What say you Rant?

I'm honestly not sure though.

The SEC will have a much harder time winning a NC with the 4 Team Playoff, unless they are a HUNH Team. The SEC has been at a great advantage because of the size and speed of their Defenses. Give Saban and most SEC Coaches time (6 Weeks) to prepare for a conventional offense, and it is a big advantage for the SEC. Now teams will have a week to prepare for a opponent before the NC Game. We have seen the results of Saban's Defense when they have had all summer to prepare for A&M, three weeks to prepare for AU and 5 weeks to prepare for OU. What would it look like if he had one week to prepare for Oregon or a Baylor ?
