It's not all Saban though. The SEC winning a million straight titles changed everything

Nah.

They weren't even in the same division. I think it was just having to compete in the SEC as a whole without Tebow. He just didn't feel like rebuilding the program and wanted to go some place easier..

Of course it wasn't all (or even mostly) Saban, but Meyer did 100% throws his hands up and quit. I don't know if it was life after Tebow, if he has a mental breakdown or if he knew his program was cratering without any leadership and was the first rat to leave the ship, but the way he just evacuated was pretty pathetic.

He had a freaking nervous breakdown..had serious health problems..had stress related shite going on..wanted more time with family. I don't think he was thinking into the future about landing some place easier when he quit Florida. He just wanted the hell outta the South.

Hell, he was complaining after OSU's bowl game about the "constant grind the season takes on you", and "the expectations are skyhigh, it's never good enough".....His heart palpatations maybe returning now that MSU made the playoff and Harbaugh is at Michigan, who knows.

If Richt beats Bama in SECCG 2012 they smoke Notre Dame and he is a UGA legend.

Tommy Bowden looked really bad after it was leaked he called our coaches after the game and asked how we were able to beat them.

This is very true. He was literally one play away from his entire career being looked at differently.

Which I always thought was really stupid (people using that against him, not him doing it). We basically did the same thing last offseason sending some of our coaches to Houston to talk to Tom Herman.

There's NOTHING wrong with consulting with an opponent in the aftermath of a loss. It's the best way to learn from your mistakes. JMHO

I know right? Didn't Saban download with Stoops after the Sugar Bowl?...and tOSU's OC last year?...Saban has had a ton of guys like Gary Patterson in there to discuss the HUNH....hell, Chip Kelly was in town this week...no doubt discussing Clemson and the gameplan.

you're better than this, despite the awful teams you pull for.

Richt being fired has nothing to do with saban. Like, at all.

It has to do with the environment across the conference that was created by multiple factors, one of which was Saban.

So yea, I agree, "Saban" certainly isn't the reason.

Unlike at Bama where the sidewalk fans have a load say in what happens with the program, UGA alumni could give a rats arse what Bama fans do and say. They play bama less than they do Clemson. Not true with their dealings with AU, GT, FSU, Clemson and UF.

He's been here 15 got damn years! Hasn't won an SEC title in 10 years, only 1 major bowl appearance in the last 10 as well. At some point it's just your time to be done. 15 years is a long arse time in today's SEC, and it was time for new blood. And it wasn't dictated by any other coach.

I mean if you're going to reach THAT far, why isn't it Miles that did richt in? Or meyer? Or any of the other coaches that have done well against richt?

Oh, I agree, like I said it isn't just Saban. It is the confluence of Saban at Alabama plus other programs that Georgia sees as beneath them (Auburn, specifically) having national success plus all the money that is now flowing through. A lot of stuff was going on.

So unlike at Alabama where Alabama's rednecks run the program UGA's program isn't run by Alabama's rednecks?

Well, alright.

I'd agree with that point more than the other, which is essentially the exact opposite of the OP.

UGA is never, and I mean EVER going to make sweeping, wholesale changes to the program based on what alabama's doing. They're supposed to be good, when they are it's not really a surprise.

Who gave you permission to create a thread on Saban's body count? I can save the entire thread by telling you he has only one body and it's not very tall.

Urban Meyer I can't say I'm convinced. I think he just feared life after Tebow and his program had grown very dark from within, mostly due to him, so he got out while the getting was good. Saban would be indirect at best on that one.

GTFOH. Meyer would still be at Florida if Nick Saban stayed in the NFL. Saban destroyed him at Alabama. The final nail in the coffin for Meyer was the 38-10 beatdown at Bryant Denny Stadium in 2011. Meyer lost his mind after that loss.

I have always been told UGA rednecks are nothing like Bama rednecks. One school pretends they do not exist and one school embraces them. See Harvey
