I know you can attribute some coaching turnover to the higher stakes with Saban in conference, as well as the general "national title or bust" climate we've been in (at least in the west) for the past 7-8 years.

However, what coaches were actually , or directly assassinated by Saban?

I would say 2: Tuberville & Richt.

Richt is cloudy only because it was earlier in the season so he had to limp through the rest of his games. But he was put on death watch by that game and not much was going to save him (keep in mind how highly ranked Georgia was going into that)

Tuberville obviously was on ice with the school for several years despite his success, but, really, in 2008 5-7 by itself wasn't 100% fireable. But Iron Bowl sealed it for him.

Urban Meyer I can't say I'm convinced. I think he just feared life after Tebow and his program had grown very dark from within, mostly due to him, so he got out while the getting was good. Saban would be indirect at best on that one.

Any others, or disagree on the above?

Meyer literally checked into a hospital after Saban beat him.

Directly
- Tuberville
- Meyer (his was a suicide)

Large part of several reasons
- Fulmer
- Richt
- Chizik

Received a stay of execution
- Miles

I think Fulmer and Chizik could've survived another year if not for the Saban effect.

Let's not forget nearly Miles before LSU had a come-to-Jesus moment.

I'm trying to get away from the Saban effect. Not disagreeing its real at all. But my curiosity is in who were truly knocked out because of their game with Bama.

Urban Meyer was still welcome at Florida, and has beaten Bama at OSU, so I can't give credit to Saban though the hospital sequence is hilarious.

That seems...retroactive. The best case study would've been for a Meyer-Saban rematch this year. See if it happens again

Tuberville, yes

Chizik, no. He donkeyed that up all by himself.

Tubervile was suicide. He got lazy.
Richt was more caused by Auburn, LSU and UF winning as much as Bama.

We are sitting with two current coaches that are literally coaching for their jobs in 2016.....If Les & Gus don't get their buisness in order, they will be hanging from the gallows at the end of the year.

Will the Saban effect be the blame?

Did Chizik get lazy and essentially quit on the job?

Okay toss out the OSU win, but he was able to leave on his own accord.

I literally mean someone more or less living life freely before being taken out directly by Saban.

Meyer removed himself from Florida due to Saban.

Yea, the "national title or bust" type SEC culture that started with Meyer/Saban/Miles in the early 2000s and kept growing the next 10 years is what finally did Richt in. Partly Saban, but really everyone else. If only Saban was winning that would be one thing. But Auburn, LSU, UF winning and UGA not year after year (plus Bama) made it too much.

Unfortunately, you will be able to add Gus to that list next November 28. If its an epic beat down, you'll be able to add him on the 27th.

The whole climate has changed in the SEC and college football since Saban started at Bama. Look at how much coaches salaries have gone up, and expectations have gone up, since he came to Bama.

Saban/Bama is now the benchmark and the waves of what he does or doesn't do is felt throughout the landscape of cfb.
