Like how he refused to talk to Alabama until the season was over ... and how he told the owner of the dolphins he would stay to finish his commitment but his heart was in college.

Saban is a royal prick and very demanding, but only because most people don't want to work as hard as he does. He also does a ton of good in the community so I don't see the POS portion of it.

Totally correct. I remember when CNS left both the Tigers and the Dolphins right in the first third of the season. It is the literal exact same situation that he is referencing in terms of Barnett.

Nick didn't leave the Tigers or the Dolphins in the beginning of the season, but he was the coach. Barnett was the fing backup. He didn't leave anyone is the lurch.

He was the backup. Y'all are as dramatic as your coach.

I wasn't aware Saban left LSU or Miami in the middle of the season.

Actually, I think the OP has a point, he just overstates it. Saban is not an absolute POS, he's a driven coach who has a difficult time seeing things from the perspective of someone who is not driven.

I don't blame Blake for leaving. He believes he has an NFL future, and he damn well might be right. He might never get a shot again behind Hurts. I don't understand leaving in midseason, but once your mind and heart is somewhere else it's hard to put in the effort in your current place. I've been there.

I don't blame Alabama or Nick Saban for the way they handled things. Saban has to look out for the team, not coddle a young QB who is disappointed he didn't win the starting job. And after you've put all that time in to develop a QB, and he quits on you midseason because he didn't get the result he wanted, I'm sure it's frustrating as hell. Being a legendary coach is Nick's strong suit, selecting feel-good ways to express himself is not.

So Sumlin had not one but 2 QB's leave last year and you are hammering Bama now? Pot meet kettle

Nick Saban will say and do anything to push his agenda. Bama fans know it just like every other person. The guy manipulates these 18-22 year olds with his narrative and when they don't buy into it, it's because they are quitters. He's a great coach, but a hypocritical POS. A couple of seasons ago he was animate about player's safety and the HUNH, now it's part of his offense. This kid wants to transfer somewhere that he can get PT and here comes Saban with another hypocritical presser.

Whatever he is doing the players seem to like it, or at least tolerate it pretty well.

I can see how an underachieving, unmotivated individual would draw that conclusion.

Saban cares about Saban.... The kid wasn't going to benefit from staying at bama so he transfers to a place he will play... The majority of these kids aren't going to university for the edu, but got a way to showcase their ability for a shot at pro sports

BB leaving is akin to you leaving a job when you were in the middle of a very important project. You leave the rest of your coworkers in the lurch as you were a vital part of that project. I think this is what has NS so disappointment as a lot of coaching hours has been put into him and then he leaves after game 4 cuz he is not the starter. The 3rd and 4th string QB get virtual no reps per a former player. Their reps come from running the scout teams. So now the team has to get someone prepared to be the back up and enter the game if Hurts goes down.

Why are most Bama fans so full of shite? Whenever Saban processes some kid you high five each other and start spanking your meat over the 5 star who is replacing him. BB is taking care of himself because he feels, probably correctly, that he can play most places and may even have a professional future. I guess he should just throw himself on the altar of Gumpitude. Saban made his choice, Hurts, and now deals with the consequences.

Maybe he just does not like Bama and its culture. I love how Bama's needs come before the student's needs. You should accept his transfer and move forward.

No, not everyone sees Nick Saban from the lens of a bitter, jealous, fan of a second tier program.

Nor do I view Saban from the lens of "He's the greatest ever so everything he does is right and you better not say any different!"

Nick Saban is not a saint, and Alabama football is not a place where kids can have their egos stroked and feel good about themselves regardless of their effort. It's pretty cutthroat. Everyone who looks at practices says it is the most efficient, businesslike in college football.

But that doesn't make Saban an evil mercenary who doesn't care about anyone but himself. Those are just projections by opposing fans with shallow minds. There is plenty of evidence that he does care about these kids and he believes he is helping to maximize their potential, regardless of the fact that his personality has rough edges. (I'm not a big fan of the way he berates the media sometimes, either. But guess what - he doesn't answer to me for that. And I'm a BIG fan of his success).

No one is upset he's transferring. Everyone knew 1-2 of the QBs in the competition would transfer. It's just bad timing in the middle of the season.

So Sumlin can't manage 5* prima donna QB talent... but he had nothing negative to say about them, either.

And how does that have anything at all to do with anything in this entire thread? Do you even read, bro?
