That is a huge transformation that was made in less than a year to this stadium. From the end of the 2005 season to the second game in 2006 it went to your picture from this (at least from the pictures I could find maybe more work had started earlier but still a huge difference).

Yes, I was amazed how fast they were able to make the transformation and how different the stadium now looks. It was one of the reasons I picked my out of conference travel game Stanford this year. I wanted to see it for myself. If anyone ever wants to travel to another conference football game I highly recommend Stanford Stadium. Downtown Palo Alto is right across from the stadium area and is a really cool place to hang out before or after the game. They have one of the best Sports Bars I've ever been in. Old Pro Sports Bar in Palo Alto

Best view was Husky Stadium in Seattle. Unfortunately, the stadium itself was garbage.

Track around the field FTL.

Agree 100%... shame, because it's really such a gorgeous setting.

I have not been to BDS since the expansion but I would think BDS would be at the top of my list now. Didn't go a game there but did visit Ohio Stadium and I was shocked at how nice that place is. I expected an old, dank gray pile of concrete but it is very pretty. Again, went to the stadium but not a game and was able to walk around. Probably more to do with the history but Notre Dame stadium kind of make chills run down your spine. Lots of people make fun of VH but I like it.

LP Field for the Music City Bowl or Jerry World are easily the "nicest" football stadiums I have been to but they are also the newest of the ones I have been to so that should be expected.

Out of the SEC ones I have been to I would have to say:

RRS and BDS

Wasn't impressed aesthetically with Tiger Stadium or Sanford stadium but both are crazy loud but are dumps for the most part.

The last time I went to VH was in 2001 and I believe its had an upgrade since then so I won't comment but I know it wasn't that nice back when I went in 99 and 01 however the Grove definitely makes up for it.

1. tiger stadium - escalator, wide concourse, the most foot room, best food, loudest, best gameday. inconsistent aesthetics.

2. bryant denny - aesthetically better than tiger stadium, incredible game atmosphere second only to tiger stadium. stadium has good functionality. tailgating not as good as ole miss

3. sanford - stadium was nice, functionally ok. concourse bordered on small and concessions were ok. crowd was ok, gameday experience was tied for second with ole miss, second only to lsu. btw, georgia is lying about capacity.

4. the swamp - strange, strange aesthetics. functionally ok. game crowd was excellent, notch below lsu and bama. tailgating was ok.

5. jordan hare - good stadium, decent functionality. very good crowd but not as good as lsu, bama, florida. tailgating was ok.

6. vaught hemingway - one endzone is crap and the other is incredible. stadium has uneven look to it. good crowd. incredible tailgating.

7. neyland - very little tailgating. a lot of metal bleachers. absolutely no room for fans. concourse and signage were TERRIBLE. i don't know if the recent upgrades have improved these things but, i know the steps will still be too steep, no foot room, small seats, etc.

8. husky stadium - great view of the lake. non sec tailgating so, not so good. stadium is a dump but the atmosphere was very good. track pushes seats too far from field.

9. davis wade - gameday experience was terrible. almost no tailgating and no energy like at ole miss, lsu, georgia. my friend from a&m said the walk to the stadium was like a funeral. stadium is functionally pretty good but obviously, looks small and isn't conducive to a great atmosphere.

10. kentucky - felt like a non sec school trying to keep up with sec schools. metal bleachers but, good seats that are all close to the field. crowd was average. tailgating was average.

11. vandy - well, it's vandy.

12. war memorial - no sec game should be played here. however, the tailgating is surprisingly good. better than state, kentucky, vandy.

non campus:

superdome and georgia dome are very similar experiences in my opinion. both great places to watch a game.

capital one bowl - good stadium, good seats. area around the stadium isn't so good.

liberty bowl - decent stadium. area around the stadium is BAD, BAD.

independence bowl - stadium has made improvements. area around stadium creates good atmosphere.

My #1 is the Sea of Red in Lincoln, Nebraska. They have sold out every game since 1962!
that stadium has the dubious distinction of having more endzone seats than between the goal lines. that is not good.

That's right - their endzone seats go way up. I've never understood why they don't add an upper deck on the side away from the press box because they could easily sell it out.

I've been to Tiger stadium, Vaught-Hemmingway, Ben Hill-Griffin, the Superdome, and Bryant-Denny.

I enjoyed all of them but as far as aesthetically pleasing, I think Bryant-Denny was the nicest looking. I think the Swamp and Tiger stadium were the loudest. I think LSU and the Grove had the best tailgating, though I like the proximity of the college bars to the stadium at both Florida and Alabama. The Superdome is hard to rate because it depends on who is playing as to what kind of atmosphere your going to see.

When were you last in Davis Wade stadium? Our tailgating and in-game atmosphere have improved tremendously over the past couple of years. There have been positive posts/articles on MSU's atmosphere by Razorback fans/writers regarding our game last weekend.
