I agree. I didn't convey my point clearly. The word itself isn't racist, but it's usage MOST OF THE TIME is. In today's society it's a polite way of calling someone the N-word.
I don't have a problem with a violent criminal being called a thug. No matter the race. Even black. However, calling a black person that didn't commit a crime, (or the crime they committed wasn't violent) a thug is racist.

You have heard the players that complained about not getting 3 meals a day and not being able to get a job to pay for their own food right?
I'm not saying they should be paid tons of money, but I think not having 3 meals a day shouldn't be overlooked because they get a free tuition. I'd complain too if I worked my arse off for a University every day and still wasn't able to eat.
