Wasn't aware of any money ever being found in the "Cam situation."

You can roll your eyes all you want but the fact that giving money to a recruit's "handler" is worthy of federal RICO charges is beyond laughable. It's obviously against NCAA rules but a FEDERAL CRIME?? REALLY?!! It's not a leap at all to suggest that the local office (likely full of UT lawyers and lawyers from other rival SEC schools) conveniently brought charges that would require subpoenas and open testimony putting all the ugly details on display. I don't think for a second that the prosecutors deep down really thought that what LY did was worthy of jail time.

It would be equally lame if some law enforcement group tried to bring charges in the Cam Newton case because technically the same "slave trading" charges could be brought against those soliciting money for Cam's services.

FTR - I quoted the part I was rolling my eyes at. I don't care about the rest of that or the Albert Means case in general.

Fair enough. Let me clarify. The exact same thing has been alleged to have happened with Cam. The lack of law enforcement officials with subpoena power prevents all the details (however sordid or not sordid they are) from being known. Nobody is legally bound to say anything therefore no details will be officially proven or dismissed.

In other words, the Means allegations/violations would simply be the same unproven allegations that the Cam allegations are without the criminal case. Either way, the Means and Cam ALLEGATIONS were equally ugly. However, neither case was worthy of federal criminal charges. That was my main point.

I think the Feds in the Means case were trying to put a stop to the trafficking of student athletes and the locals were trying to put a stop to Logon Young. Youngs reputation was well known within the SEC, but they could never find hard evidence to put a stop to him. Timing was everything in this case and it went against AL. Today the Feds have bigger fish to fry and the rest of the SEC has their own problems.

I really like Danny Sheridan and hate that he made the boneheaded decision to go public with his original comments that got him into this shite. It became a lose/lose for him the moment he opened his mouth.

Assuming what he said was bullshite:

If he refuses to give the name, then everyone thinks he is lying and his reputation is trashed

If he gives a name, then he IS lying, it comes out and his reputation is trashed.

Assuming what he said was true:

If he refuses to give the name, then everyone thinks he is lying and his reputation is trashed.

If he gives a name, the NCAA's case is blown, his source in the NCAA loses his job, nothing happens anyway because there will be a mad scramble to cover up any evidence linking the name to anything incriminating, and his reputation is trashed.

Very unfortunate for him that he even brought it up in the first place.

He made a media circus about it. It's not like he just brought it up. Paul i'll get the name and be back in a couple weeks, twitter: I have the name tune in to Finebuam for more, radio: I'm not saying shite.

I have no sympathy for the guy, and what little respect i had is dwindling.

It seems like when people break legitimate stories with legit info, they are praised not trashed. See Charles Robinson.

When people use innuendo and rumor as the basis to garner attention for themselves, they are vilified by some. See SbB, Clay Travis, Danny Sheridan.

DS is a shady (or at least very strange) guy. Read the old SI article about him.

Well, I think what happened is that he got pissed off at the same people in the media that normally kissed his sack to come on their show and do segments were all of a sudden slamming him. I'm not saying he handled it the correct way, because he didnt. Not by a long shot. But then after he popped off and said what amounted to "You dont believe me? Fine ill prove it to you", he realized that he really couldnt prove it to anyone.

He made a bad decision, made an even worse decision to retaliate, and now is paying the consequences.

I still feel bad for him. He made a string of bad decisions. We all do that occasionally, usually we dont destroy a nationally known and respected career in the process though.

Thats just how I feel about it.

I agree DS calculated how he was going to play this. He took the time to formulate his method of exposig his info, and how to protect his source. He did what he did to position himself in the spotlight so as to profit from the exposure.

He made a play and got kicked in the nuts. He deserves any bad that is coming his way if it turns out that way. I don't feel bad for vermin. Nothing personal towards you Kappy or your opinion. This is just how I feel about DS.

If it turns out he was truthful and did have the goods I will retract and apologize for bagging on him. Maybe
