Yea, SEMO most SEC teams don't care enough about a '6 win bowl' to retain their to-be-fired HC for that game. This is what it's like to live in a world where 6 win bowls are to be laughed at, not admired, as Mizzou fans we're still learning this adjustment, but we'll get there!

Bowls are important for recruiting and for more practices.

Typically, a bowl is a money loser for most programs. But it allows for an additional ten practices and that is huge for most programs to build upon going into the next season.

So, as a program, you're lucky if you break-even financially when you go to a bowl, many do not.

But, as a program, if your season doesn't end in November and you're able to continue on into late December or early January, it can help with player development AND help recruiting.

Last but not least, perception is reality. 9 wins are always better than 8, 8 better than 7 and 7 certainly better than 6.

So, USC gets new DC Will Muschamp and new DL position coach Ed Orgeron as a package deal? Or brings back former DL position coach Brad Lawing along with WM as a package deal?

hmmmmm.....

only if the TV revenue from that game is split among the conference and not just the teams playing it.

yea I know about the extra practice aspect and the bonus in PR your team receives from being in a bowl, it's no big secret.

so you and cnb made it out of the boose-closet after a long night of comforting each other?

Muschamp did a great job cleaning up the program with all of their off field issues but he just want ready to be a HC at a big school. He needs to go to smaller school and work his way up.

I think that Foley will actually send feelers out and try to bring Chip Kelly to Florida. That would be a home run hire for them. I have heard that Kelly might want to return to the college game

He ain't leaving Philly, although I'd love having CK at UF.

I was expecting them to wait until the end of the season to announce the decision.

I think this is a dumb move, not the actual firing, but the handling.
I know everyone wanted JLSmith gone here, but Jeff Long waited until the end of the year to announce it.

What would it have hurt to wait 2 weeks for Florida?

Not if some one is interested in the job. Foley would have to move fast.

Even during the worst years at Florida, Tennessee hasn't been able to beat them
