This is all hilarious to me. Every one of the SEC schools offers some recruits gray shirts when the numbers get tight and kids and coaches get pissed about it. College football is a business plain and simple. It sucks for Virgil but he is a very good qb and had several offers from power 5 schools and he will be fine in the end. How many times do kids decommit at the last minute and have coaches scrambling? We didn't pull his scholarship. We asked him to gray shirt and go on scholly next January. It sucks for the kid but Mullen isn't the only one that does this. Get off your high horses Lawdy

When you suddenly find yourself as a national power and the flagship university of your state you simply can't pass scholarships out to any Tom, Dick, or Harry. You have to be selective - only the truly elite may Grind.

Mullen has honored schollys to players that have potiential career hindering injuries their Senior year in High School. He's a good guy and that's why he's seeing success with underrated players.

Let's all be honest here. The idea that Mullen is a dick didn't just come from Ole Miss fans. UF people have said the same thing. Is there any reason why a coach's personality wouldn't spill over into recruiting? Recruiting isn't his best assess. His ability to coach up lesser talent and develop a program is.

He wasn't very ingratiating fl FL HS coaches or recruits either. It's one of the reason he'll not be next at UF IMO. That and he loves Starkville because it's awesome there and there's no pressure to win.
