I dislike Alabama primarily because they have beaten us five years in a row and reached a success that is unparalleled in college football during my lifetime. It is really an impersonal hatred. I live in Colorado and work in retail. When I see various SEC fans donning their particular team's colors, I will talk shop with them about football. I do not do this with folks wearing the crimson and white.
Somewhat of a nasty hubris crept into the fans of Alabama when they started winning championships...again. I think it would have happened to any team faced with that kind of success. Still, frick Alabama. They are like the Ramsey Bolton of college football. Smug to the point of nauseating. The only team within the SEC that I will root against come playoff time.
Beyond the success of their college football program I know nothing of the state. What I will say is that many of their fans feel they are entitled to comment on the socio-economic affairs of the state of Louisiana. But then again, so do the folks around aTm, who are equally arrogant, only with far less reason. An old money mentality, perhaps. This is a joke, regarding both fan bases (and all fan bases within the SEC). Louisiana is a state rich with history and culture. While it is true that any honest person would have to defer to Alabama's prowess in football, none of the southern states hold a candle to Louisiana in terms of cuisine, and few can match New Orleans in terms of music and art. I think Nashville would be the exception.

North Carolina has better food, beer, music and culture than Louisiana.

I agree. I really enjoyed my visit to Louisiana in January 2012.

Music: Mississippi blues beats Nola funk
Food: Louisiana wins here - Mississippi doesn't have a distinct cuisine like you do
Beer: Louisiana didn't limit APB like MS did so you win again

Because you critiqued the post. I was pointing out the irony of it.
