So from reading this thread it appears that a few LSU fans think AJ is extremely overrated. All other fanbases, not so much

I'm an LSU fan and think AJ has been a really good QB for Bama. The kid can flat out play, good arm and decent mobility, something a lot of people overlook.

So is this how we judge if someones overrated or not? How many times has he forced the ball somewhere? He's not Jameis fricking Winston.

Like I said, it's easy to avoid mistakes when your team has a big lead and there is no reason to try and thread the needle. AJ is a good qb.

AJ is definitely overrated. He played really bad teams in all the national championship games he started. Didn't have to do much to make sure those teams were beat.

Yeah. Sure. Gotchaz

Ahhnh.... I must respectfully disagree with my Tiger brethren on this one. AJ McCarron is NOT overrated in the least. When Ala. needed him to step up he has over the past 4 years. That's what great players do. bullshite about he is surrounded by supreme talent and ineptitude by other teams. LSU and half the teams in the SEC have great talent. It's the QB that makes the difference and he is a difference maker. You put AJ McCarron on LSU's team and we are a better team than Ala. That's all I have to say about this. LSU vs ALA has been the best rivalry in college football over the past half dozen years and it's because of players like AJ McCarron that make it so. I'm glad he's finally moving on the NFL. He may not be a great NFL QB but he'll surprise a lot of people I believe. We'll see. One thing is for certain - he was/is one heck of a college QB. Props to you Mr. McCarron.

One final note: If Ala. would have beaten Aub. he would have won the Heisman. His 99 yard TD pass was a Heisman moment. Hell, he might still win it. Winston is a thug.... That's another story.

He's been far more successful and better than any LSU QB in the past 5 years....that's for damn sure.

I'd put Mett and AJ on the same level probably. AJ a little more consistent, Mett with the bigger arm talent.

But yeah, the rest of the competition he's against is STIFF.. Jordan Jefferson, Jarrett Lee, and Andrew Hatch.

Andrew Hatch was a stud. Misused by Miles so he left the program.

Based on his cult status on this board, it has to be Matt Flynn. Statistically, he's the worst QB to win a BCS national championship and it's not even close. Yes, his numbers are even worse than Craig Krenzel and Greg McElroy. He's the only QB to win a national championship with two losses. And in those losses, he had horrible games (17-35, 130 yards against Kentucky and 22-47, 209 yards against Arkansas). He also almost single-handedly lost them the Bama game as well. There are dozens of QBs who could have lost two or fewer games with that LSU supporting cast around them yet LSU fans think he was this great QB for some unknown reason.

Now you're getting carried away. I think AJ was a great QB for Bama. He would make LSU a better team if he was the QB for LSU. But Saban's coaching is great and Bama's D is Bama's D (except against aTm and Auburn).

Now, you put AJ on the 2011 LSU team and it's proabably death and destruction for everyone else. I'll give you that.

You guys can call him overrated all you want, but he's the best Bama QB of my lifetime by a large margin. He's done everything asked of him and he's a far better passer than most of you will admit.

Yeah, plus he played most of that season hurt. His BCS performance didn't hurt either completing 70% of his passes with 4 TDs against Ohio St...

How so? Dude did nothing but produce.

In terms of UGA players, Bacarri Rambo comes to mind as very overrated. Great as a freshman was only average as an upperclassman, IMO. People continued to think he was a badass because of his name, it seemed like.
