Because he wasn't playing for the number one team in the country. I'm sorry.

Julio Jones definitely gets a lot of undeserved hype. to his credit he hasn't really had any gunslingers throwing him the ball. he's a good talent though

even though he might be a good pro, Al Woods fits this perfectly

Take your pick of any white Big XII QB not named Josh Heupel. Eric Crouch, Chris Simms, Jason White, Chase Daniel, all the QBs that's played for Mike Leach at Texas Tech, Colt McCoy, Sam Bradford, the list goes on and on.

Julio? Get the frick out. He was one of the best recievers in the SEC as a freshman and was a pivotal part of a national championship team last year, you people are fricking dumb.
Terrence cody? Yall are smoking crack.

What is most people's idea of overrated?
My idea of overrated is a guy who the media tells you is good, but his performance doesn't reflect it.
Example of Overrated to me:
Jevan Snead
Example of an Under achiever:
Al Woods - I may have missed it, but I don't remeber his name being called that much on ESPN, etc.

Terrence Cody fits that.
He wasn't even the best NT in the SEC.

coming out of HS he was supposed to be the next reggie white amongst the recruiting gurus

How in the hell are these people overrated? The thread title isn't about people who have good college careers that don't translate into NFL success. It's about COLLEGE players, and all of the above had pretty darn good college careers, with some having elite, excellent careers.

Chris Donald was consensus five star number 1 lb recruit in 2007, he has failed to even see the field/crack the depth chart

Tray Blackmon.
Guy from Scout did a video talking about how he was the "Best Defensive Recruit He's Ever Seen."
Forced Chris Leak to "fumble" and that's it really. Sadly overrated.
For some reason though, first name that popped into my head when I read this was Ciatrick Faison. Top 5 national player out of HS. Never really seemed to do much at Fla till his jr year.

Oh, I forgot one:
Reggie Bush. Same guy who talked about Blackmon said Bush was "The Best Offensive Recruit He's Ever Seen"
For all the hype, he didn't really accomplish much. Didn't win a National Title, and his Jr year didn't win a game...Overrated if you ask me

It's funny you mention Reggie Bush.
My reason for starting this thread is because FSN was showing the 2005 Fresno State vs. USC game. Bush went off, but it got me to thinking. For as good as Reggie Bush was, he really did all of his damage against sorry arse teams. There's no doubt he was a great player, but in 2005 you had people ready to declare him the greatest running back of all time.
