Anybody that says Bama - UT is overhyped is under the age of 25. To them, college football DID begin 10 years ago.
Sad, but we gotta let these youngsters know. Edumacate 'em some.

too many people in this thread are also confusing the word overhyped with relevance as well.

Not really, you would be hard pressed to provide an example of when both teams were good and played each other in that game over the past two decades.
You have had Tenn being good in the 90s, Bama sucking arse, Bama being good in the 2000s/10s Tennessee sucking arse and a couple years where both were mediocre.

Bama and Tennessee don't care if anybody else cares. That's what being the best is all about.

I think it relates back to UT and Bama carrying the "SEC" flag for a good 30 years. Everyone else was mediocre to bad and they were the big boys of the conference.
Sure their are years were LSU had a good season or Ole Miss or UGA had a good season, but for the most part, that's where this stems from.

Which proves what I stated about it being hyped over the history of the series a long long time ago, not based on current events.
Like I said, Arkansas/Ole Miss was a heated rivalry at one time, not today, but once upon a time in the past.
UGA/Auburn has been a much more relevant series over the past 20 years and no one cares about that "rivalry" outside of their fan bases.

It's so cute that Mizzou gets to play in the east where they don't have to worry about the other 6 teams in their division skull fricking them on an annual basis. we were playing the Egg Bowl prior to y'all even playing football so suck our nuts. Can't wait for y'all to cycle on to our schedule so we can pound your asses back into oblivion.
This funny in so many ways, but surely incorrect. Mizzou and Ole Mis had football teams in 1890. MisState did not play until 1895.

2005. UT was ranked #17 at the time of the game, Bama was undefeated and ranked #5. The game ended with a 6-3 Bama win. wow, that didn't take very long. And please spare me the fact UT ended up 5-7 on the season. That wasn't the case at the time of the game.

also incorrect. Bama was good every year in the 90s outside 1997 and 1998. Alabama won the SEC in 1992 and 1999. they played in the SECCG from 92-96 and again in 1999, so five times in 8 years. yeah they totally sucked arse in the 90s

Tennessee went to the SECCG in 2001, 2004, and 2007. They had 10 win seasons in 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2007. Tennessee had bad or mediocre seasons in 2005 and then 2008-present. It's truly baffling to me how people over-exaggerate how long UT has been bad. It's been a long time for them, but it's been just 7 years since they had a 10 win season and SECCG appearance.

Alabama vs Tenn isnt over-hyped, its irrelevant. Same could be said about the Ole Miss/Miss St rivalry.
Over hyped would be ND/USC or Alabama/LSU

Neither comes close to Duke/UNC in basketball as far as being over hyped.

This, although I wouldn't say Alabama/LSU is overhyped, it's just not a traditional rivalry. The "hype" it's gotten the past several years has absolutely been warranted given the importance of the game.

Then you would agree that TSIO and DSOR are over hyped because of how the SEC allows it to hamstring their inter-conference scheduling...?

Propose to rename it the "Battle for Bowl Eligibility" game. Traditionally the winner becomes bowl eligible in the final game of the season, and the looser waits until next season to play for bowl eligibility again.
Lolol @ looser.
Lolol @ Missouri trying to belittle Ole Miss football. We have a better overall record, better bowl record, more wins, and more National Championships. Also, we have more SEC championships.
Seems like you're retarded.

I don't care what the record is, until you go to this game, it is kind of hard to explain how awesome the game is.

the winner went to the Natty the last 5 years... yes completely overhyped! the last one might go down in history as the top 5 game in sports... please do continue to show why mizzou does not belong here.
