I hear Texas gets favoritism from the refs.

It's not so much the Chick-fil-a bowl but the perceived influence of Slive on the process. LSU is ranked higher plus beat A&M but didn't get that bid. Obviously having the Heisman winner was the key and the Cotton Bowl made best invite for their Bowl's interest. I think a few are upset that Slive was thought to be using his influence to get A&M the invite, which was taken as a big FU to LSU.

Who would think this?

What's more plausible (and by that I mean don't be an idiot): Slive & Co. strong-arming the Cotton Bowl until it acquiesced and took A&M, or the Cotton Bowl, by its own volition, selecting A&M -- a team located in Texas with a long history in the bowl, fresh and interesting drama with the Big 12, and boasting the Heisman winner to boot -- over LSU.

Please.

There was only one choice to make here. Even suggesting otherwise is just silly.

It just needs to be pointed out that LSU is desperately fighting the SEC on trying to force us into A&M's Thanksgiving Night tradition. If LSU gets forced into that game, then there really might be some serious discussion about leaving the SEC. You can only be kicked around so much before you start fighting back.

Dude if you honestly think that LSU would leave the SEC for the reasons you just stated you're completely clueless about sports business. Every team in America wants in on the SEC for exposure, quality opponents and MONEY. When you die, LSU will still be in the SEC. Write that down and read daily.

Fact: LSU would make substantially less money in the Big 12 than they would (will) in the SEC, especially once the SEC network stuff is worked out in the next few weeks and months. Every single conference move has resulted in more money for the moving school, that is the one constant. Plus, besides 1 or 2 exceptions, the Big 12 matchups are garbage. .

LSU fans and administration are adamantly opposed to playing on Thanksgiving Night. What do you suggest we should do when Mike Slive says that A&M's tradition is more important than you? What about when Alabama and Tennessee's tradition is more important than scheduling equality for the entire conference?

Says the fanbase that bitched and bitched when leaving the Big 12.

For reasons that didn't require us to wear a tin-foil cap.

Our move actually made sense, too.

This guy's suggesting you leave the most stable, prestigious, and profitable conference for the one that's most volatile ad scorned.

That necessarily requires your reasons for a move to not only make sense -- i.e A&M's reasons -- they should also be compelling (there are no compelling reasons to leave the SEC).

Texas will show you very quickly why aTm, Nebraska, Colorado, and Missouri left. That conference is ALL ABOUT Texas and they will go in dry on LSU.

correct. LSU would take a huge pay cut to leave for the Big 12. LSU would never leave the SEC if they were offered a spot. There would be riots if they left by the fan base.

I'll say it: even though I am an older fan, the rivalry with the Vols just does not mean as much as it used to. I like beating them as I always have but it is not the rivalry of the 50s, 60s or 70s. Fine with me if they figure out some way to play that game on a normal rotation like any other game. Also fine with me if we don't count 1941 as a national championship year, either. I am feeling uncommonly reasonable today.

I don't want to leave the SEC, but everything the guy said is right, you know. It's a serious unfair advantage that Bama plays 2 college teams and a bunch of HS teams all next season, especially after their joke of a schedule this season. Call me a whinybaby all you want - if that's your only defense, it's because there IS no real defense because you know it's complete bullshite. You would be bitching just like we are if the situation was reversed.

The amount of bitching LSU fans do is pretty incredible.

We may bitch a lot, but in reality, we won't actually quit on a rival like Texas made you guys quit.

Well that's a rather misleading statement -- you guys have no rival upon which to quit.

But that's beside the point. Whatever nostalgic and traditional benefits that flow from keeping the game with Texas -- a game they decided to cease -- simply pale in comparison to those that follow our move to the SEC.

That little benefit-weighing analysis was implemented by our administration once it became clear that Texas ran a conference comprised of individual institutions looking to maximize their individual positions. Thus our move to the SEC was the most basic and natural consequence of our membership in the Big 12.

First 3 reasons are about Alabama
Jealous much. LSU sounds like a kid that says he will take his ball and go home if he can't be the quarterback. Most SEC schools thought that Alabama would never recover from probation. LSU thought they would be top dog from now on, but Bama recovered.

As to the permanent opponents, Tennessee use to be a top team. It's just their time to be down.

And the SEC office being in B'ham, it's been there since 1948. Started in Knoxville, then Jackson, Mississippi. Moved Birmingham because if was centrally located for the SEC teams.

Best solution is just kick bama out of the SEC. The SEC won't skip a beat and everyone will be happy.
