More than going to a top 10 UGA?

Posted in the other thread that I think the best way to attack Mizzou's D is to run right at them. Ole Miss doesn't do that. They try to get the perimeter.
Mizzou is a legit fricking football team. Their defense is extremely impressive and sneaky good. They continue to roll and get a tough win in Oxford.
I do think Ole Miss' D will give them a little trouble though especially early. I'm thinking a fairly low scoring game (relatively speaking considering the offenses).

Took a few snaps in the UK game. This is the guy's 3rd year in the Offense as a starter. It's not like he's a 1st year starter.

Yes.
That team was beat to death, yall jumped on them early and the place damn near emptied. UGA fans were headed to the bars on a pretty saturday cussin Richt up and down. They made a run at tying it up, which isnt surprising considering they currently have their all-time leading passer.
Your team will be in a much tougher atmosphere on 11/23 and there's quite a bit more pressure now as opposed to sneaking up on a battered UGA team.

That is the worst way to attack Mizzou's D. That is the thing we defend the best.

Honestly, having watched this team all year, we can and will do both. It'll be up to the OL obviously but we absolutely have a north-south running game to compliment our lateral looks.
Furthermore, I could say the same about our D and their O. They seem to run alot of lateral passes and sweeps, which feeds right into our fast, attacking defense. The matchup that worries me is play-action deep balls with our shorter DBs on an island with those power forwards of theirs

I feel the same way. I hope it's due to Franklin being rusty and our offense controlling the clock.
I think Hugh gets a big win Saturday night.

Dumb idea. If you run out of the spread, you'll have success. If you try to line up and run north/south, you'll get destroyed at the LoS. Mizzou rush D is possibly the best in the country vs power run game. We struggle a fair amount against the spread.
Just go rewatch the UGA game for great examples. I still remember MU's MLB Wilson utterly destroying UGA's manchild FB on a running play. But when UGA ran out of spread formations and more toward the tackles/edges, they had success.

Yall have defended it well because you haven't faced a real balanced offense. When I watch Mizzou's front seven I see them committing hard. That's very effective against one-dimensional offenses.
The reason Mizzou has been so effective defensively is because they have such an aggressive style of play. If you don't have a quarterback good enough to take advantage of that with PA passing then of course Mizzou can get away with it. As soon as a qb can counter that aggressiveness over the top and loosen up that front seven I think Mizzou's rush defense would be exposed a bit.
But getting to the perimeter against an aggressively committing, undersized but fast defense would not be my strategy. Too many opportunities for negative plays and turnovers.
I think Mizzou matches up well with Ole Miss because of that. Against a team like Bama or LSU I don't think Mizzou would match up well at all on defense.

I am beginning to think you have watched very little of Mizzou. We have a VERY conservative defense. We don't blitz much and keep 2 safeties deep 70%+ of the time. We let teams dink and dunk down the field if they want to.
That is the #1 complaint from Mizzou fans is the lack of aggressiveness from the defensive scheme. Play soft, hope for mistakes, tighten up when they get into the redzone.
And our DTs average about 310 lbs. They are listed at 305, but they are well over that. We are not undersized.

I think he means the d-line is aggressive; we run lots of stunts and such, often leaving holes up front. it's on of the reasons we get so many sacks. we're clearly trying to play up the quickness on our defensive line, and it works a lot of the time.

The D-line is aggressive in passing situations. He is saying we can only defend the power run when we keep 8 guys in the box near the LoS and overpower the offense with numbers and quickness. And that is just wrong.

Close game. Mizzou escapes Oxford with a 31-27 victory. I think it would be a mild upset if Ole Miss wins.

Mizzou by a field goal, because the world is funny that way.
